I saw an ENT specialist yesterday. He said my sinuses were clear, even did a CT scan. I have been having a fairly rapid onset of intense, stabbing pain over and behind my right eye in the are of a frontal sinus lasting 3-6 hours and once overnight. When it comes on, it hits me in the middle of the afternoon. The past couple months, there are times when it is every day and then it may skip a week.
The doc was pretty sure it is cluster headaches. He gave me Fiorinal to try.
I really don't understand what either my body or my God has in mind but I'm ready for a break in this health cascade.![]()
Low back pain became somewhat dehabilitating in 2005
Have had 11 steroid injections, IDET, Trial for nerve stimulator, PT, chiropractic trial, practically every med known to mankind. Discogram indicated three diseased levels with L5-S1 being the most likely pain generator. Post minimally invasive PLIF with internal fixation (titanium) on 12-28-09 of L5-S1. Doing better than expected. Last opioid 7/9/10. Five months pain free, then my neck turned against me. MRI on 12/1/10-- disease at C2 to C7. Only surgical alternative is to fuse entire C-spine. Diagnosed now with Aggressive Relapsing-Remitting Multiple Sclerosis with cord & brainstem active lesions

Jack, I'm so sorry that you have yet another source of pain. Is there any way to find what's triggering them? If they are migraines/cluster headaches (I'm not sure if they are the same), my friend finds that it is stress and not enough sleep.
They are nasty, very nasty. I remember my mom disappearing for hours in a dark room and becoming very ill from the pain. I hope you find a way to end them soon.
Severe compression of spinal cord, flaval ligament, etc. at C4/5 & 5/6.

Hi Jack,
I am sorry you are going through so much pain.It is hell when things like that happen.
You really need to find out the cause. I knew you have put your brain in gear to figure this thing out. It is really not fair. I wish I could help you like you helped me. Could it be allergies? Allergies could be really bad and come up with all kinds of different problems. This is the worst time of year for them.when everything starts budding. It is just a suggestion. I found that Vit B-12 shots work great for me. I give them to myself. I found out about them on a different forum. The information was especially pertinent to spine patients. Stress is not what we need. Hopefully someone will find out what was causing it.

Progress report,
Things seem to be trending downward or at the very least two steps forward and 2.25 steps back.. At the first of last week, I had another couple days of high fever. I was up 5 times going to the bathroom to pee during the night with burning pain. The next morning, my pee looked like it had a vanilla shake mixed in. I passed two kidney stones that day. I managed to get fitted in late in the day at my FP’s office with his PA. A U/A showed a packed field of WBCs with left flank pain. This particular kidney also has a Type II Bosnick complex renal cyst that I have to have checked every year. I’ve been on Cipro for 3.5 days now. Pee is clearing up but I still feel really sick from something.
I saw an Endocrinologist Friday who took blood for more tests. I also went to se a Psychiatrist and saw his PA the same day for the first time ever just to cover all bases. He did give me a few Cymbalta samples to try and see if that helps. I’m getting desperate to (A) find out what the heck it is and (B) to get rid of it. In some ways, I hope it is the kidney thing just so I’ll know. In another sense, I hope it is not. One thing it is not is an STD, unless it takes over twenty years to start having symptoms, and no I have no signs of tertiary syphilis.
This past week left little free time to lie around. Monday we had an electrical storm that knocked out our power from 40 PM to 6:30 AM. We live in the sticks and are at the end of the line power service wise. Several people around us have 40-50Kw backup generators that come own automatically if the power goes out. If I still had the money that I had 4 years ago, I would get one. Our big generator was not ready so tried to get by with the little 3000 watt one and string cords all over the house. My wife had to work the next day so my job was to get the house in order for an extended power outage. I slept about 3 hours, plus started with the 101-102 degree temp. Tuesday was when I had the fever and getting up to pee.
Still searching for answers but this is getting as annoying as my back pain use to be.

Hi Jack of all trades,
It sounds like you are going to put some of those to use. My girlfriend came over since she was with out power from the storm last night. I was getting candles ready for the power outage but it never happened. My girlfriend stayed around and helped. The last time she helped me she cleaned my frig out an through-out all of the food. I had to spend 239.00 to replenish my supply. I do have a sparkly clean refrigerator.
Anyway I hope from one of the tests you took that they will find some answers. I know you have researched it yourself to find out. Maybe you should try a different doctor in another town, but close by. Maybe your storm was the same storm we had. Let me know what you find out. Carmen

Jack- That just sounds very painful. I completely get wanting to know what is wrong, but hoping it's not what you think it is. I hope you find out soon.
