Us too Todd. We are getting pounded right now with the big white fluffy stuff. I am sitting by the fire with a heating pad on my back. It's hurting in a huge way tonight, but the snow is comforting, as is the fire. We should have some pretty high totals by tomorrow night midnight. It's a long storm.

BLIZZARD warning in effect from 10 pm Wednesday until 40 pm Thursday. 12" of snow, on top of the 3 inches of sleet we are getting now and 40-50 mph winds, with temps dropping into the single digits, makes for a nasty drive home tonight and an even nastier drive in tomorrow.

I have a new Motel 6 two blocks from the shop, so I just might have to book a room there, otherwise I will be looking at a 2-3 hour each way, with MONSTER ditches grinning at me all they way saying "come on in, it's not that deep"..

I really do not like winter.

Me too Alison......I always opt for a winter holiday skiing out west, instead of heading south to the beach. Living in Minnesota, people think I'm nuts heading for more snow!

Dave, lmao! You gave me a much welcome morning laugh with your post!! We should trade places, shouldn't we? We got maybe 5 inches last night, w/ more today, and really blowing, drifting snow, and -5 temps tonight. -13 up at the cabin! But you got more! I'm totally jealous.

I have a flock of robins who have not headed south, everywhere in my trees, and feeding on my crabapples. I have my feeder full of seed, but they seem to be preferring nature's source, at the moment. They are so fat and fluffy and cute, but I worry many won't make it thru the winter. I always wonder why some birds don't head south that are typically migrating birds.

We got over 20 inches of that Lake Effect stuff that Dave is referring to. We got about 11 last night, 11 more expected today, 5 tonight, 4 tomorrow, etc. The winds are up to 50 mph gusts causing blizzard conditions. I went in to work this morning in several whiteouts. I went to a meeting after I got here and I have to go to Rotary at noon. Tomorrow I head to Lansing for a Friday meeting, return home Friday, leave Sunday to go to Lansing for a Monday meeting and return home Monday. Life is good.

My company van is an all wheel drive Toyota Sienna. My personal vehicle is a Lexus RX400h with all wheel drive. We have good traveling vehicles. You need these up here. Like Dave says though, most of the doofs in the SUV's or 4 wheel drive are the ones in the ditch. I can't believe how often I am tailgated anymore.

The snow machine has been turned on. The ski hills are open for the season.

I broke trail with my running snowshoes in about 15" of Snow on Sunday. It was a monstrous trek of about two and a half miles in the woods. My butt was kicked along with my 73 year old cycling buddy and his dog. They sure appreciated me breaking trail. If you live in the snow you have to make friends with it. Get a Winter outdoor sport and dress in layers. Life is good. I love downhill, cross country skiing and snowshoeing. Winter camping is a blast also if you are a nut. I am.

Enjoy all. It's got me in the mood for a White Christmas. Our store has been doing good since December started. Here's hoping for happy holidays for all of you.

Dave: Send some of your snow our way.

Don't worry Terry, by the time this storm is over, you will have plenty of snow to play in. Me on the other hand tried to get into winter sports, but it is just not fun. I have all the winter gear to stay warm, it just isn't me. I like sweating and beaches.

It's cold here too: -7, actual temp, no windchill. With the windchill it's -12. Brrrrrrrr! I am amazed here too at the Minnesota born folks who don't do any outdoor winter activities. I couldn't survive the long winters without embracing them.

I have to say, I am an owner of an SUV, and have never been in a ditch, but crazy drivers expect me to go fast, even in inclement weather, because of driving one. They stay right on my tail, even in the right lane, until I hit my breaks, of course, to say: back off!
