It has been in the lower 80's here in Florida for the past few days. The humidity has been through the roof. If I go outside for even 5 minutes, my hair is all frizzy & curly. That's the price I pay to be in paradise.

It's weird to not see snow & to walk the dog in a t-shirt & shorts in mid-December. I don't miss the NY cold or driving in the snow & ice. I do miss seeing the snow though.

NY just got hit with about 5 inches of snow & is now dealing with bitter cold temperatures. I am praying that the pipes don't freeze in my house up there (Still hasn't sold yet). I have the temperature set to 50 degrees but I have an older boiler which gave me a lot of problems last winter. Here's to hoping that it behaves!
Disc Bulge C4/C5, Disc Degeneration T11/T12, Bi-Lateral tears L5/S1, Diagnosed w/ Lumbar Disc Derangement w/ Radiculopaphy. Treatment: IDET, Percutaneous Discectomy, SI Joint Injection, Facet Block. All failed. Empire BC/BS Denied Coverage for ADR-lost all of my appeals. MVP also denied coverage.

    Anterior/Posterior Fusion L5/S1 -1/20/09 - I'm not 100% but I'll take the 85%! When the weather co-operates, it's 95% woohoo!

I enjoy my once maybe, if we are lucky twice a year snow here in Texas. We actually got snow last week, which was crazy, we never see snow this early in Texas. I woke up to it, they said it started at 4 am, snowed until 7am (maybe an inch or two total) and was melted and gone by 10am. It just wasn't cold enough to make it last, plus it was really wet snow.

I can't even fathom 3+ inches of snow, have never seen anything like that in my life. We have had temps in the 40's and gettting to the 20's at night and I am freezing my rear off. I absolutely hate winter. I'll take my 1 or 2 snow days, then I want warm. Luckily, the weather here in Texas goes back and forth. There have been many years where I have worn shorts on Christmas day.

If you hate the idiots driving there, don't even come to TX in the snow. No one, including myself, can drive in it. The schools literally get shut down, businesses close and everyone stays home for a day and plays in it. When you do venture out, it is tons of wrecks and people sliding out of control. I don't even attempt to drive in it, as I have no clue how, other than just go slow. I didn't even drive in it when I had my 2008 GMC Yukon, I just don't trust myself. My hubby will drive in it; but he has a big Ford diesel truck and is more experienced with it.

We have been enjoying having fires in the fireplace. I love the smell of a fire, just smells wonderful. Hopefully, we will get a snow this year that lasts, so we can play in it. We always bring our mattresses into the living room when it snows, sleep by the fire, with the window open, it's wonderful. The kids love it, because it is like a big slumber party. And it's layers of clothes, in and out, building a snow man, making snow angels and of course making snow ice cream.

Good Justin, you can have all you want. Seems that all the snow is going North and South of us. Lake Michigan is funny that way. It can really change the weather patterns, for now to the better. Have fun and stay warm, it's 34 here with very light flurries.

It's absolutely beautiful outside. Tiff and I played in the snow with our dog, Bailey. She had an absolute blast. It's starting to feel a lot like Christmas.

    Pictures please!

This may be a really dumb question... I was wondering, when it doesn't snow there for a little while, does all of the snow melt or does it stay cold enough where there is always snow on the ground?

Not a dumb question at all. It really depends on the temperature, Kathy. And also if the ground was frozen before it snowed. If so, the white stuff is more likely to stay, but if it was warm, with mud and lots of water on the ground, it often melts quickly.

However, if there was a big snowfall ( a foot or more), and it stays cold 'on top' it sometimes covers up the mud and acts like a blanket. You step through the snow and into a big mud patch and your boots get pulled off

We have several 'melts' throughout the winter. It snowed a fair bit two weeks ago, just after our Christmas party, then the temperature dropped to -25 C, about -6 F I think (I've forgotten the old scale) The snow has stayed nicely

But it can then go above freezing a couple of times over the winter and we will lose the snow or at least a great deal of it.

Some winters we are really lucky, like two years ago, when we got about ten feet of snow throughout the winter and no melts to reduce the total load. Our dog was able to get up on the roof from the top of our pool pump house (where the snow slid off the roof and piled up), and he could run along the ridge line of the house, peeking into the skylights of the master bedroom

Here's a few of him back then, one with an icicle in his mouth. I never managed to get a shot of him on the roof though...darn!

Whoops! Somehow I got two of the same on here, and can't seem to delete one...sorry! Just click on them and they will enlarge.

Severe compression of spinal cord, flaval ligament, etc. at C4/5 & 5/6.
Herniation and compression, at L3/4 to L5/S1 plus spondylosis at the latter level. Severe allergy to most metals.
Three level surgery in Brazil with Dr. Luiz Pimenta on March 17/2010 using non-metal appliances. L5/S1-PEEK cage, ALIF; L4/5-PEEK cage, XLIF; C5/6-NuVasive NeoDisc. Three separate approaches, two minimally invasive. Currently minor residual back pain, from SI ligament and still overdoing things . Therapy and chiropractic treatments helping immensely. Gone from being almost bedridden to near normal activities including gardening. Life is gooooood!
