Default Thank You - my academy awards night

Hi. I've been meaning to introduce for sometime so I guess this is as good of time as any. My name is Carson. I haven't much of a story just yet but I have been reading all of your stories for nearing one year now as I'll soon be following in your footsteps. I just wanted to tell you a funny story then wish you all a good weekend.

Last Sunday I watched the Oscars and the Barbara Walters special in which they show highlights from over the years of celebrities talking with Bawbwa, sometimes watery eyed, about how difficult their lives have been at some point because they were shy, had acne, had a demanding mom or something equally as silly. While I was watching them tell their stories I thought of all the stories I've read here: CD who is so kind, Mark Perth, Linda, Justin, Justin's dad, New-disk, KenG in Japan, Cindy Lou, Treefroger, KBear and Katie. While all my friends last Sunday watched everyone from Meryl Streep to Miley Cyrus describe what designer they were wearing I felt I knew who the real stars are. Those who continue doing your best to manage your present circumstances and keep slowly improving physically and emotionally while caring for young ones, families, friends school and work. Your the ones who get my fanfare and admiration. I like Sandra Bullock too, but let me tell you, she's doing just fine. Those doing their best to recover, while helping others, are the ones we celebrate most. And thank you for that help. No need to reply, I just write to say thanks and enjoy your weekend. It's beautiful out today.

    Dear Carson,
You said no need to reply but I just can't help myself. You have made my day! I hang around this website and check in often hoping there is a way I can be of some help. I know all about being desperate, in pain and clueless about where to turn. I am working my way back to optimum health....slowly but surely. You will be too! Good luck and Thanks!!!!

Very thoughtful and much appreciated Carson. I think one thing that is critical to managing chronic pain is a can-do, upbeat attitude. Naturally, one may ponder, how can you possibly be positive when you're in pain? It is not a natural response, that is for sure. You have to work at it. Get outside yourself, if you will. For me, when I am around my toddler granddaughter, she is my surge button to happiness and all around gleefulness. And I know when extra endorphins kick in, they reduce my pain, or at the very least, distract me from my pain. It's probably both. Sure, I have my downer days. Who doesn't? I just try not to stay stuck there. My doctor recommended a book to me that I started reading, and I do recommend it for anyone dealing with chronic pain. The title is Unstuck. I don't even bother to tell anyone anymore (except here, of course.....thank God) that I am in pain. What's the point? But it sure is nice to hear from someone who gets it, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
