    Default Trans-Siberian Orchestra

So, before my surgery had been denied, my wife and I planned on going to Trans Siberian Orchestra tonight as a gift to me before I was bed-ridden for a few weeks.

Surgery is on hold, but, we are still going to the concert.

I'm very curious as to the combination of percocet, robaxin, and the light show will go. I'm hoping for the same side effects as watching Pink Floyd's "The Wall" synchronized with the Wizard of Oz and a bottle of strong scotch

Gotta have some entertainment in my life, regardless of how much it's going to hurt sitting for that long. I'll go crazy if not....

    Ever see "John Q"??? lol

So sorry to hear about your surgery cancellation due to insurance denial. This seems to be what it comes down to now. It is insurance companies making all the decisions about health care and it probably is some lowly (though hard working) employee that is just going by the rules.
I hope you enjoy the concert and that things work out some way for you.

It appears that we should save our own money for our own health care even though we buy insurance to cover it.
    What a system.

I think it comes close to the same in other countries even though they are covered by their government insurance, they don't get to pick what procedures they need or even what their doctor might say is best for them, only what is cheapest for the government.
I guess we need some kind of reaction like sending lots of band-aids to our U.S. reps, Senators and President.

I hope this doesn't upset too many Tran Siberian Orchestra fans, but, I feel like I just left a sub-par Eastern European 80's glam band concert.

I'm all for rock operas, when performed by bands like Queensryche, The Who, or Dream Theater....however, TSO, take a note: please stick with playing Christmas faves and quit trying to be KISS.

    Ugh....

Just grateful for some time with my beautiful bride. I have a bad feeling I'm going to pay for the long period of sitting and walking I had to do....It's already starting to bother me, but, I'd cut my legs off to spend time with my wife, so no pain no gain.....

You are funny Matt! "......feel like I just left a sub-par Eastern European 80's glam band concert." That cracked me up. Glad you can have a sense of humor, especially under your circumstances. The win of the evening.......getting to spend time with your wife. I just noticed from your signature that you are a former veteran. Thank-you for your service to our country. Hang in there. I hope things turn your way soon. Cindylou

Thank you for the kind words. I never had back problems when I served; if I had, I'd probably be able to get some help from the VA. I remember having back pain, but, simply contributed it to muscles, over doing it, etc. Perhaps even then, the DDD was prevalent, but, can't prove it on my military records.

The military is giving IED injured soliders, artificial discs as well as fusion. I joke with my current military customer that maybe I'll rejoin just to have this surgery.

Matt, isn't that something......you can't prove that it started while you were serving? I would take a wild stab at saying it is almost certain things could have begun to escalate for you during your service, and could have even started then, without you even knowing it. But, like you said, how do you prove it? So you must have never had any treatment for your spine while you were actively serving? That is really a shame they can't take care of this surgery for you.
My step-son is visiting us right now for the Holidays. He was just discharged from over seas 6 weeks ago, (Afghanistan) and although he "lives" in N. Carolina full-time, we are so thankful to have him home and on American soil for good. This was his second tour of duty. It's been a rough go for him. A fair amount of depression, post traumatic stress, anxiety, (how does anyone come home from war without such?) an unending ankle injury slow to heal, and he just called off his wedding which was supposed to be in 2 weeks. The canceled wedding is a whole other story, but after some late nights of talking, we really see it as a blessing in disguise. This was an extremely hard call for him to make, but better now than either at the altar, or worse, after marriage and a couple of kids. We are just wrapping our arms around him with love every day that he is here. And trying to talk him into moving to Minnesota to finish school. We haven't gained much ground on that one yet! haha Probably the freezing temperatures and 3 feet of snow on the ground isn't helping matters! lol

God bless you Matt, and I hope you and your family have a blessed Holiday. Keep us posted on the surgery coverage issue for sure. Cindylou

Many of our men are struggling with the return. I embrace him and hope that he will be OK. There are many resources for him to find and many men/women that have "been there/done that" and I hope he finds a community where he can vent their frustrations.

Marriage is a huge step; the military life-style makes marriage even harder. I'm sure there is Providence involved and pray it will be well with him.

Thanks for the kind words; you too, enjoy your holiday. I will keep folks posted on what's coming up for me.
