    Default We bought a house!!!

Well, we finally found a house! The offer got presented last night about 8 pm, and after one minor counter, it looks like all systems go. We close on March 31st. We close on our existing property the week before, so unfortunately we will have to put everything in storage for a week and move twice. Ugh. And I will likely either stay with one of my kids for a week (my hubby will just go on the road w/ business) or go to the cabin for a week with our golden retriever. But this is going to be a great house. Well, we wanted to down size and this clearly qualifies....this home has exactly half the square footage of our current home, but it definitely lives large. The best part (besides the new garage, new windows, new roof, new kitchen, and screen porch) is that it is walking distance to literally everything: the grocery store, Walgreens, restaurants, even a movie theatre. We are so totally jazzed. It was on the market 1 day, Saturday. We walked through it Sunday at it's Open House, looked at each other as we walked the house, and said....we gotta get this house!

That's great CL! Sounds like you found the perfect house! Yay!!!

On the moving twice, have you considered renting those PODS (portable on demand storage)? That way you load them, they store it for a week, then they drop it off at your new place and you unload it. So, you don't have to do it all twice. I have seen different competing brands in our area too, though not sure if they are national.

Yes, we have those PODS too, Kathy, but unfortunately....I had already signed a contract with a moving company. Besides, even tho we are doing most of the packing, neither of us is going to lift a finger when they actually arrive to lift and move everything. I am doing most of the packing to save on $$, as it is soooo expensive, but I am going to hire them to help me unpack my kitchen, bedroom and one bathroom, so I won't get too manic. I'm still going to call the moving company tho, and see if they can store everything on the truck for a week. We'll see what they say. Alison, I will definitely post pics after we get settled in, and take a pic of the front too. It is my favorite vintage year. It is a 1928 Tudor bungalow.

Congratulations! I love the idea of being able to walk to everything. What a relief to have a date. Moving is very stressful, especially with a broken hand.
