Default The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly!

Sorry for taking forever to get back to you. Things have just been insane here. Looks like some of my bad luck has followed me from NY

When we got to our house, we were having issues with no water. Since we bought the house "as is" & the inspection company was worthless, we got stuck having to pay for new water treatment equipment. That was a HUGE expense that we didn't plan for. Looks like I'll have to put off buying that washer & dryer that we need.

When I took my car to the local "DMV" my husband & I noticed a "bad" sound coming from my car. I have to take it in to get the brakes & rotors looked at. Another expensive fix.

My sprained ankle keeps blowing up when I'm on my feet too long. I figured that after 3 weeks this would have stopped by now but I guess not. I took my husband's car out to the supermarket yesterday. Been a while since I drove a 5-speed. It was soooo much fun even though it hurt to push in on the clutch.

When my husband unloaded our long dresser from the POD, we noticed that it & the clothes in it were infested by ants. Thankfully the other furniture appears to be ant free, but it took me hours to go thru everything & vacuum those suckers out of there!

The technician installing our satellite dish pointed out a brown widow spider in our garage. Poisonous. We killed her & her eggs & found another one outside which was quickly disposed of.

Most of the boxes are in the garage. All will be unpacked out there so we can avoid more insect infestations. We have a lot of ants & spiders here & I just don't deal well with them!

    Let's see. Funny stuff. Hmmmmm.

    • When I tried to drive my AWD SUV with the trailer up the driveway to my in-laws. They live on top of a mountain. No way the 4-cylinder was making it. It then took 1 hour to back down the driveway (a few hundred feet) in the dark & try to park the trailer without ending up in a ditch.
    • When we were at the laundromat yesterday & this spider decided to jump on the back of my neck. The look of absolute horror on my husband's face & me freaking out. Priceless! Needless to say, I told him we were buying that washer & dryer sooner than later...lol
More to come I'm sure. I have already written a book here

I use Ortho Home Defense (buy it at Home Depot or Lowe's) for bugs, ants and spiders. Twice a year, spray it on all the baseboards in every room of the house and spray the slab on the outside of the house (plus hubby treats the yard with other stuff). This completely controls the bugs, nothing gets past that stuff! When we moved in to this house, we discovered the upstairs playroom was ant infested, one treatment with that stuff and 6 hours later, not a sign of an ant (at least not a live one). I need to do our house treatment, I'm a few months over-due and found a brown recluse in the house the other day (I put in a jar, to have hubby identify it, then he killed it; they are extremely poisionous)

When we bought our house, we also ended up with issues, we had an inspection, had the 'homeowner report' that there were no problems, etc. The first rain (incidentally, right after we had put in brand new hardwood floors), the roof opens up and rain comes in. Cost us 2 grand to get it fixed, couldn't get the seller to pay for it. I even went to a real estate lawyer to see if there was anyway to get her to pay, basically we could sue; but even if we won, would never see anything (he said in Texas and Florida the law is on a debtors side). Made me so mad, as she had filled out a legal form stating there were no problems and nothing could be done (and there was evidence of them 'southern engineering' aka. rigging, the shingles on the roof.

Sorry you are having such bad luck, does make for a good laugh though (I just see you in a driveway for an hour backing out with a trailer, in the dark!)

Thanks for the Karin. Hopefully, there will be less bugs when you get settled. I hope your ankle gets better.
