Reading this thread, we are an eclectic bunch; there seems to be very little overlap in our reading. I'm a little surprised that no one listed President Bush's new book or President Obama's older one.

    - Mission: Black List #1 - written by Eric Maddox, the US Army Sgt that was the brains behind the intelligence that captured Saddam Hussein. I read this on the beach in Isla Mujeres and absolutely COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN, even long enough to walk to the bar for another Juan Julio.
    - Arbitrium Liberium, Saint Augustine.
    - Fight your Health Insurer and Win, Laurie Todd.

I am very impressed. We made our youngest boy read three books every summer; and while a love of reading didn't develop, he is doing very well in his university studies to be an engineer (like the old man).

If you can indulge me, I have a few questions. If you are allowed to say, what is his novel about? What is his day job? And how old is the boy?

Well, funny thing Jeff, he hasn't let us read it yet. lol He let me read a few chapters early on, after one of my surgeries, I think my 3 lumbar adr's, when I was laying in bed recuperating a lot, but he said he has changed it all up since then. I do know he asked me if he could use his uncle Jeff, my oldest brother, and some of the true story line of him in Vietnam for 2 tours, disappearing from our family for 17 years, etc., and of course, I told him yes, I'd be honored and so would Jeff. I believe he is one of the main characters. But I really don't know much beyond that. He'll share it with us soon enough, when he's ready. This is my oldest son, married, 32 and a young Dad. His day job is waiting tables at the most prestigious restaurant address in the twin cities, "The 510." He has managed restaurants before, but it got to be too much responsibility and took away from his writing time, so several years ago he and his wife made this decision together. He can make more money waiting tables. He didn't want to be seen as a "career restaurant" guy. His wife, however, is the career restaurant profile tho, and is a General Manager at another one of the top restaurants in the twin cities, Cafe Lurcat, so she brings all the healthcare benefits to the table with her position. They are HUGE foodies too, due to all their exposure to the industry. Big in the arts too, so a very fun couple to be around. CL

I did read Laura Bush's book, Spoken From The Heart, a few months ago.

I also read what I call my 'trashy' stuff, the unauthorized biography of Oprah by Kitty Kelley- very good read.

I can't say that these are an exciting read but here it goes:

    1. Electronic Health Records - Understanding & Using Computerized Health Records
    2. Basic ICD-9- CM Coding 2010
    3. ICD-9-CM for Hospitals - Volumes 1, 2, & 3
So when I have trouble falling asleep, I just grab one of these lovely textbooks & I'm out within 10 minutes!
Disc Bulge C4/C5, Disc Degeneration T11/T12, Bi-Lateral tears L5/S1, Diagnosed w/ Lumbar Disc Derangement w/ Radiculopaphy. Treatment: IDET, Percutaneous Discectomy, SI Joint Injection, Facet Block. All failed. Empire BC/BS Denied Coverage for ADR-lost all of my appeals. MVP also denied coverage.

    Anterior/Posterior Fusion L5/S1 -1/20/09 - I'm not 100% but I'll take the 85%! When the weather co-operates, it's 95% woohoo!

Last books I read were Cry of a Damaged Man, which some broken down spiney recommended, it was a good read. The other was Bram Stokers Dracula... it was awesome!
