    Thanksgiving?

We go to my maternal grandma's (30 minute drive North) for lunch and all of my aunts, uncles, cousins, and their kids are there. I've done it ever since I was born, so love the tradition. We always watch the parade on tv waiting for lunch to be served. We then drive to my in laws, which is back South and about 20 minutes on the other side of us. There all of Joe's siblings, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews are for afternoon lunch (and you can guarantee I'll be eating at both ) We then watch the Cowboys game there and head home around dinner time.

On Friday we are going to Joe's brother's house in Oklahoma City (about 2.5 hour drive). They are having another Thanksgiving dinner and then their famous football game (I'll be watching from the cozy house.) They take this football game very serious and they are already practicing for it... LOL We will probably drive back Friday night, not for sure though.

Luckily, I'm not in charge of much cooking, have to make 3 desserts and that's all. Everywhere we go they assign everyone a dish, so 1 person isn't stuck with all the cooking.... works out great because we all get to make what we are great at, so it's delicious.

    Anyone else have big plans?

We are really busy this year, so we are having East Indian food for Thanksgiving! There's a great place in Philly and it will be nice that we won't have to cook. Plus, my twin brother and his wife are coming down from NYC to spend the weekend with us.

    Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

We're having the whole gang over with their wives, our 1 single son, and of course, Tully Lou. In fact, I just set the table, to get that out of the way. (I get a little anal, can you tell?) And whatever we didn't find or purchase last night at Costco, I will pick up this morning at the local grocer. Not feeling too thankful or festive though, as the same (probably) jerk (s) came back and slashed my husband's tires again night before last. Another $1200. This is starting to look like we are being targeted, and yet, we've only lived in this neighborhood for 7 short months. We don't even know anyone over here, except our immediate neighbors. We are so totally bummed out. Honestly, does anyone have any suggestions? I'm considering having someone install an outdoor security camera set-up, but my daughter-in-law says "what's the point? You'll just end up with a fuzzy picture of some non-descript fella that will lead to nothing." That was encouraging. NOT.

If you think what might be motivating the vandalism then that will give you some ideas as to what to do. Most crime of this is sort is motivated by boredom and lack of social engagement, a view of others in society having things that they are not able to have. It is quite unlikely to be personally targeted at you but the repeat attack is a common occurrence as causing repeated annoyance is a reward in itself for the perpetrator.

Making it difficult to repeat so that they move on to another target would appear to be your aim. Removing the vehicle is obviously the ideal but lights, cameras and noise alarms deter most.

I almost wonder if that is the reason why the previous home owners moved....

Costco sells video security systems which range in price from $250.00 and up. Here's the link for you:

    Costco - Electronics - Security & Monitoring

My brother just purchased and installed one purchased at BJ's Wholesale Club. It's an outdoor system and he said the picture quality is amazing.

The great thing about this system is that you can view the camera footage while you are away from home. I'm actually looking into installing a system since there are a lot of burglaries in my area. My neighbor's house was hit last Friday and he, like you, has only lived here for a few short months

Disc Bulge C4/C5, Disc Degeneration T11/T12, Bi-Lateral tears L5/S1, Diagnosed w/ Lumbar Disc Derangement w/ Radiculopaphy. Treatment: IDET, Percutaneous Discectomy, SI Joint Injection, Facet Block. All failed. Empire BC/BS Denied Coverage for ADR-lost all of my appeals. MVP also denied coverage.

    Anterior/Posterior Fusion L5/S1 -1/20/09 - I'm not 100% but I'll take the 85%! When the weather co-operates, it's 95% woohoo!

Two pit-bulls on long chains tied to the bumper should do the trick . Sorry you're having to deal with that. Alison's right; no telling what the motivation is; could be someone who got ticked at you in traffic taking pleasure in making a point or just bored punk(s). I'd go with a motion or heat sensor that alarms inside and outside simultaneously but a traditional outdoor drive-way alarm is a great start. Sensors that are triggered by heat are immune to animal movements reducing false alarm. The key is getting a sensors with good range that can pick up heat (or movement depending on which type you get) at ~50ft out for example.

For Thanksgiving we're headed to Oklahoma. Or as my mom insists on singing it "O-k-l-a-h-o-m-a... Oklahoma you're OK!" every time she crosses the border . My mother and father both grew up in a tiny town called Frederick. We all meet up from different states at Lake Broken Bow every thanksgiving. It's a blast.

This year we're staying at home and Sherri's family will all be coming down. Our oldest is busy in Afghanistan keeping the Taliban occupied. Our youngest will be down from UNT, while my in-law's, Sherri's sister, brother-in-law and eight year old niece will all be here from Wichita Falls.

While I absolutely think the world of my in-laws, of course my heart really lies with my family. I only get to see them at Christmas-eve. Everyone from my maternal grandparents (both of whom are gone) on down attends. While I truly enjoy visiting with them, the thing I relish most is just seeing who's out of jail. You never know who'll be there and who'll be locked up. To date the record number of confirmed Christmas time incarcerations is four; two in county, one in state and one in federal.

Nothing can embarrass you quite like family!

    Cindy Lou,

That is terrible. You do know that if you moved back to Texas that everyone (outside the Dallas area) on your street would be armed and ready and willing to use them. Nairek has shown a possible solution if you want to catch the !*@&#^$%!; and Carson has shown a possible solution if you're just willing to scare them off.

Sigh.... Whatever ya'll decide to do... good luck.

Well, I don't think it's why the former owners moved. They outgrew the house with all her pregnancies and our neighbors on one side who have lived here for 16 years said nothing like this has ever happened before in the neighborhood, period. So, why us? The whole thing is just bizarre. We are clueless. Completely clueless. Have hardly been able to focus on Thanksgiving......looked at outdoor security systems/cameras all night instead.
