Default 32 yr old female with "Failed Back Surgery Syndrome"- failed 360 fusion at L5-S1

New MRIs done 2 weeks ago showed failed fusion in approximately 20 pieces. 360 fusion at L5-S1 performed 4/15/2003 & have been doing chronic pain management ever since. In 2005, neurologist found 90% nerve damage on right side & 75% nerve damage on left side. Tried every alternative treatment prior to and after the surgery. Am now stuck taking 12 medications every day...too young to give up & just settle with meds taking pain level from a 10 to an 8. Am in DESPERATE NEED of advice about experimental/alternative treatments. Don't know how to do this, but have about 15 images from the recent MRI that I want to upload so people can see exactly what I'm dealing with. Would REALLY appreciate if someone would let me know how to upload those images!!!!

    Aggielayla,

Welcome to SPS. We're glad you found us. We are all ready to help if we can.

If the films are saved on your computer, use the drop down (attachments) of the message window to the right of the smiley face. That should enable you to upload you images.

I hope we can help you find your solution.

    Layla,

In addition to the images, it would be helpful if you included some more history, such as your preop diagnosis (why you needed surgery), any involvement at other levels, type of hardware used, type of graft used... while i'm no expert on fusions, others know more and may be able to pipe in better. i know more about the "before" and diagnostics end of things, than the "after".

Welcome to the forum. I got a failed back surgery syndrome diagnosis after my second spine surgery (my first attempted fusion). I am now five months post op from my third op (second fusion attempt) and will have permanent disability however successful this op is. Would love to hear more of your story. It can be a very lonely life coping day to day.
