Default ADR options - ProDisc-L with Bertagnoli or Light or Spinal Kinetics M6-L with Boeree or Ritter Lang

    Hi all,

I am currently considering my surgery options for two level ADR at L4-L5 and L5-S1. I have consulted with several doctors and have been given the follwoing options.

Two level ADR using ProDisc-L with Either Dr Bertagnoli in Germany or Dr Kenneth Light in San Fracisco.
Two Level ADR using Spinal Kinetics M6-L with Dr Nick Boeree in England or Dr Ritter-Lang in Germany.

I would greatly appreciate any input on either of these implants and all of the surgeons. Dr Bertagnoli and Ritter-Lang have their share of both success and failure stories. I have only found good feedback on Dr Boeree and I haven't found any patient feedback on Dr Light.

why are you considering going overseas for surgery when there are great surgeons in Colorado?

I agree that their technology is better and cheaper, but after care is going to be hard.

    I wish you the best.

P.S. I would of gone to Boeree but could not afford it

Who are the surgeons here in Colorado? I am seeing doctor Scott Stanley. But he won't do multi level ADR. He could refer me to anyone else. Neither could my PCP. I also searched the internet and didn't find anyone local. I would like to talk with someone local. The only local person I found wasDr Kenneth Pettine. Any info would be nice. I don't really want to have to spend my life savings on back surgery.

2 level ADR isn't FDA approved - who would be paying if Dr Light does it? How many 2 levels has he done? it is my understanding that there are very few US surgeons w/ much multilevel experience, unless they were part of the trial.

i recently had a 1 level M6 w/ Dr Clavel - doing absolutely great. as far as post-op -- he has gotten back to me within a reasonable timeframe any time i have had post-op questions. having an incision problem - seeing a local general surgeon for that w/o issue. he didn't even bat an eye when i told him why i went overseas. most people have minor post-op issues, if any at all - things like what i have.

i couldn't dig up a speck of dirt on Boeree when doing my research and i did consult w/ him - but in the end logistics of having surgery in a smaller town in the UK were a big problem for me.

i think paying to go overseas for a prodisc is a bit silly - but that's just me. lots of success stories w/ the M6 but the lumbar is newer. i couldn't have a prodisc - see my signature.
