It looks like Justin and Co have put together a great place here. I remember pouring over Justin's posts of his own experience (on another forum) long before I had my own surgery.

To make a long story short I had 2 level Activ L (l4-5-S1) in October of 2008 with Dr. Zeegers in Germany.

It was an incredible success. I work as a firefighter, have 2 little boys, work out 4 days a week and competitively race road bicycles. I have battled through some hip issues (bilateral FAI) that probably led to the demise of my back, but those are behind me as well.

I am not here to hang out, but to help, encourage, and empower anyone that is going through this dark journey.

What a wonderful post, and welcome to the forum! Yes, Justin has done an amazing job, hasn't he

I love your attitude about helping others. Many times, those of us with successful surgeries go back to the good life and those still in pain stay with the forums. There are quite a few exceptions to that rule here, I'm glad to say, and happy that you are joining that list. There is such a wealth of information gathered during the journey to getting relief, and I think it is a sin not to pass it on.

Hope to hear more from you soon.
Severe compression of spinal cord, flaval ligament, etc. at C4/5 & 5/6.
Herniation and compression, at L3/4 to L5/S1 plus spondylosis at the latter level. Severe allergy to most metals.
Three level surgery in Brazil with Dr. Luiz Pimenta on March 17/2010 using non-metal appliances. L5/S1-PEEK cage, ALIF; L4/5-PEEK cage, XLIF; C5/6-NuVasive NeoDisc. Three separate approaches, two minimally invasive. Currently minor residual back pain, from SI ligament and still overdoing things . Therapy and chiropractic treatments helping immensely. Gone from being almost bedridden to near normal activities including gardening. Life is gooooood!

    Hey Geoff,

Welcome to the Spine Patient Society.

Great to see you! Thank you for your kind words. It's been quite a while, but I'm glad to see that you are doing well. How's work at the fire station? Congratulations on returning to such an active lifestyle.

Stories like yours are such an encouragement for Spine Patients all over the world!

Oh yes, it's so nice to read that there are actually success stories! I tried many forums before I found this one, but as said previously, the successes aren't there. So, my sincere thanks to everyone who is on here, hopefully one day I will be one also!!!!
