My name is David, I had lumbar fusion L5 S1 in early May and am now at home recovering. The days are still endless and the nights drag on at a rate of 60 seconds a minute. I'm watching my belly grow from the comfort of a seat in my family room. I guess you could call me "in the morose" stage of recovery.
I can walk ok but it feels like there's a muscle spasming as I do so - odd sensation! The pain is being controlled by pills but they don't protect against the stab pains in my butt when I cough. Oh boy I hate to cough.
That said, I'm enormously enthusiastic about a future where I can lift a box of cat litter without sobbing 30 mins later. I describe my pre-surgery pain to having a screaming child with you, impossible to ignore, utterly inconsolable.
If I post again I promise to be more upbeat. For now I want to say thanks for sharing your experiences, I'm looking forward to mining this
Best wishes
David
