Welcome Luis. That is great that the stem cells worked, you are the first success story I have heard of. There are a few on here who have tried it, but none that had success.

Hello. My name is Luis and I am writing from Spain. The first thing I must do is apologise about my bad english. I have disc degeneration disease in L5-S1 and I have suffered pain for two years. I found out a clinic in Spain where they were doing stem cells therapy from autologous mesenchymal cells and I tried. I got innoculated on 10th June and I have improved about 40-50%, specially in my leg pain, but it still hurts me. In the control images after six months, the hernia in L5-S1 disc has apparently disappeared.
Now I am waiting still for six months and then I will see what I can do.
I write this message looking for help. I would like to know if there are other people in the forum with the same problems. Are there other clinics in Europe that offer the same treatment? And, of course, I would like to help other people if it is possible telling them my story.
Best regards.
Luis

Hi Luis,
Welcome to the Spine Patient Society.
Wow, a 40-50% reduction in your pain is incredible! You will find many other Spine Patients here with similar problems with their spines that suffer from chronic leg / back pain.
I'm not familiar with other European clinics doing autologous mesenchymal cell therapy (I'm sure there are; I have not investigated this personally).
Thank you for sharing your story with the SPS. Please keep us posted on your progress. I believe mesenchymal stem cell therapy has a lot of promise for the spine.
Be well.![]()

Well the doctor predicted 80 % better or even more. On the other side, I have the impression that I am getting worse these last weeks.

Luis,
One of the best spine doctor's & spine surgeon's in the world is there in Spain. His name is Dr. Pablo Clavel in Barcelona. Just google him by name or by "The Barcelona Spine Clinic". He has his offices and does his surgeries at the Quiron Hospital in Barcelona. Look him up.
Luis and Jacobo,
Please tell us a little more about your stem cell injection procedure. Did they take your stem cells from the hip bone marrow and then inject them in your back? The group Regenexx in Texas, seems to do it that way. I think their clinic has been somewhat limited by the Federal Drug Administration recently. I hope things get better for you both. Keep SPS updated.
