Default Introducing Myself - 2 Level ADR Surgery at Stenum Hospital 11/25/11

Just saying hello and introducing myself. Would like to offer up any feedback for anyone looking at ADR oversees. I've researched for years before finally deciding to go to Stenum Hospital. I'm four weeks out of surgery with Dr. Karsten Ritter-Lang in Germany and I can't say enough good things about my experience. Also, if anyone has any tips on recovery I would love to hear them. I feel great and am following my post op instructions to the letter. I do have some odd leg pains (in a leg I've never had nerve pain before) but have heard this is normal as your body is just kind of out of whack. Look forward to any discussions and being resource for anyone.

    Best regards,

    Tyce

Hi and welcome, taking it slow and steady for recovery is my best tip. Increase activity in small increments and do your physio exercises. It's a big op to get over.

    Tyce,

Alison gives good advice. Take as much time as your body (not your mind) tells you. After beginning PT, take it slow and easy as well. There's no checkered flag in the healing process.

The distraction pain will ease over time. The extra 3/4" is stretching the nerve roots.

Congratulations on getting to the other side.

Thanks! I'm taking it easy, believe me. Just walking and doing basic physio exercises.

Thanks, Bob. I'm definitely taking it easy. Thanks for the feedback on the nerves. Dr. Ritter-Lang had set those expectations. Doesn't make it any less weird to have nerve pain just on my right side from toes, to sole of the foot, up through the leg. Still, it is a blessing compared to the back pain I know longer have. Thanks again!
