I'm so sorry you are in this place, it's a hard spot to be in. I completely get what it's like to hurt 24/7 and pain medicine not touch it (or barely take the edge off.) Most of us are on or were on some major narcotics and other meds for pain, it's no way to live, but a necessary evil for helping with the pain while you wait for help. I was on time release morphine twice a day, 6-8 10mg Vicodin a day, 300mg Lyrica, 120mg Cymbalta, and 6mg Zanaflex a day (I'm now pain and medicine free!)
I bolded your statement above about the heating of the disc. Do you remember what the procedure was called? It sounds like an IDET. I'm hoping I'm wrong on this, but I'll go ahead and 'voice' my concerns. I also had an IDET to seal the tear in my disc. I was told that it would heat the disc up and thus seal the tear and that's all I knew. In theory it sounded great; but in reality it wasn't. I never received any relief from it. When I finally left that doctor a year after I had it done and it had failed, I was diagnosed with DDD after IDET. Meaning the IDET sped up the degeneration of my disc and in essence killed it. Basically the IDET heats the disc and kills it, turning it black. The only thing making me think that maybe you had a different procedure is that I think most doctors have abandoned the IDET a few years ago, realizing it was making it worse not better.
Have you had a recent MRI? I would definitely make sure your imaging is no older than 6 months and were done after your procedure. The next suggestion would be to get multiple doctor opinions on the next step.
