    Hello Justin.

First of all, sorry for my poor english language - I used to read english texts, not write

About problems I'm experiencing now: I was unable to sit for over 10 months, before surgery, so sitting position is still not very comfortable for me - but it is getting better every week.
Second problem is a bit too big pain in gastrocnemius muscle during walking. I can't get certain information what is the reason (L5/S1, L4/L5, L2/L3).
I was in pretty bad condition before surgery, couldn't stand on my left leg because it was causing huge low back pain, next - left foot was getting weaker and weaker, next - gastrocnemius muscle did not work at all, next - I had a huge skin-pain at L1/L2, what was caused by instability on L2/L3.
Now I do not have left leg weakness problem, I can sit, I can bend, I can walk, I do not have pain when standing on left leg.
Casual low back pain still occurs, but it's livable. Previously, I was almostu unable to sit in car for example, and pushing pedals with left leg was very difficult due to weakness.
L2/L3 was hard to discover for most doctors, as it is not visible on standard MRI or RTG, but caused huge muscle tension (up to neck). I believe Open MRI could show the problem, but there is no one in Poland right now. Anyway - doctors decided to put InSwing stabiliser at L2/L3, and it was a brilliant idea. Maybe flexion/extension RTG could also show the problem, but it has not been performed.
I still have muscle tension and pain in neck, and again - it is hard to determine the reason (I've small disc protrusion on C5/C6 without conflict with nerves), and there is no idea what to do with it.
Generally - before surgeries, I was pretty hopeless, as for now I have only few annoying symptoms. Before - stairs were a problem, now - I can go for a 6-hours walk to mountains without dramatic pain/instability.

    Greetings,

    W.

    Nes, Hi.

Well, you come from a pretty far place to post here in the US board. Welcome and I am glad that you are recovering nicely. As far as your English writing, it is not that bad. I can read it without confusion and that might be saying something. (joke).
In your picture, you look fit.
As far as lumbar studies like the MRI, things can be missed. My second MRI, which came after my surgery, didn't show anything spectacular about my L5/S1 disc; however, the discogram I had last July showed an annular tear and the CT afterwards, didn't really show anything.
    So the tests are "fickle"

    Hi runagain

We had no PL spine board until last year, and idea of Spine Patient Society sounds fine for me, so that is why I'm here. I like idea of this board, and it seems to contain a lot of long-term experiences, descibed by patients, what is priceless.

Btw. feel free to correct my english whenever it's wrong

    Nes,

Yes. A board that is for the benefit of the patients on here, is priceless.
Your English is good, I would not correct it just to correct it.
Unless you were trying to say something and you didn't quite have the words.
I have been on boards since 2007, other people a lot longer.
    Welcome.
