Default New Member - Thorasic Pain

Hi everyone. I'm a new member with severe DDD at T12-L1 and disc height loss at T8-9. No clear cause. I'm "lucky" and don't have much nerve root involvement. Just diffuse thorasic pain between the two bad discs and T12-L1 facets. Was hoping for stem cell options. I was reading about preclinical studies of Mesoblast Inc. stem cell therapy that totally regenerated severely degenerated lumbar discs. Treatment looks VERY promising.

Looks like about 3 years to FDA approval. They are hoping to get phase II clincal trial approval soon. Regenexx-C doesn't appear to be offered for severe DDD, just bulges - and only lumbar. I'd really like to avoid fusion if possible. Anybody know of any options?

Welcome to the forum. Have you heard about the FDA's concerns about Regenexx? Here are some links to information you may find helpful: http://www.fda.gov/BiologicsBloodVac.../ucm091991.htm

In summary, the assertion by FDA that certain processing steps for autologous stem cells turns those cells into a one on many drug production risk is not supported by an additional public health impact beyond any other one on one medical care risk. Furthermore, the agency’s decision to insert itself into the practice of medicine by drawing a line through one procedure, sets an interesting precedent. Where does this line get moved to in the future? Do certain compounded drugs get assigned a drug manufacture risk? Certain fertility procedures? Certain high risk surgeries? Certain high risk surgeries involving cells?
Just curious, what types of treatments have you tried? I hope you find the relief you are looking for.

Thanks for the information. I have only tried conservative nonsurgical treatments: manipulation, physical therapy, spinal decompression therapy, and prolotherapy. All provided partial or temporary pain relief, but didn't fix the underlying problem which was disc degeneration.
