Default New - thinking about cervical ADR or fusion, or hybrid

I'm new here but have read many of the threads with interest. I'm considering ADR or fusion, or possibly a hybrid. I'm currently under Blue cross, but I have the option of switching to any plan offered to federal employees, so I'm thinking about Aetna.

I recommend you speak to surgeons about their experience getting surgery authorized by insurance companies. The surgeons I consulted spontaneously told me about differences in insurers, in terms of which ones can be persuaded to authorize ADR, even at multiple levels. If you have a choice of insurance companies, and don't have pre-existing conditions excluded, or treatment for them delayed for a long time, find out which ones the doctors like to work with the most.

Diagnosed in February, 2011, with "moderately-severe to severe" stenosis at C 5-6 and C 6-7
I have nerve root compression of C-6 and C-7
Local surgeons have advised I will require a two-level ADCF at some point, but don't want to do it now because of lack of spinal cord compression symptoms.
