    Default Recent Microdiscectomy

Had microdiscectomy 4 weeks ago to repair a herniated L4/L5.

Incision healed but still having periodic rt foot pain mixed with sporadic numbness along buttock and
    Leg and foot.

Anyone know how long it takes before pain and numbness subside?

    Ronnie.

    Ronnie,

It can take a year or two for nerve roots to heal. I experience periodic "memory pain" on an infrequent basis depending on levels of exertion and stress.

Good luck on your recovery. Follow your surgeon's orders and I'm sure the pain and numbness will ease up with time.

    HI Ronnie

I had the same operation and my nerve pain never went away! But I also reheraniated the disc and had another surgery.

Please take it easy SLOW do not try to do over do it.

You will get better and the nerve issues will go away with time.

Get help! let others do the work, P.T. will help tell them to be slow and easy.
