    Default Wyoming Workmans Comp Torture

Hello Good People who have suffered back and spine problems,

I fell at a Anadarko gas compression site called the Hilight Gas Station near Wright, WY on August 18, 2011 where I hit my back on a large gravel (2"-3") base and suffered a compression fracture and 2 blown discs. My MRI showed these problems and Stenosis. I am currently in litigation with Wyoming Workmans Comp where the state law says I have to prove I was injured, so although I have never had a back injury before and had several witnesses see this happen I am stuck awaiting the outcome of the hearing in mid March of 2012 before my surgeon will move forward with Surgery.

If any of you have friends or family get injured on the job tell them to immediately get medical care to document it. My fault in this issue was waiting 4 days before I had xrays and treatment because I tried to be a good guy to my employer. I did notify the employer within 2 days so I saved my claim but workmans comp used my delay as an issue to deny my initial claim and force me to fight for my rights.

Currently I take 2400 mg / day of Ibuprofen and 100 mg/celebrex twice a day to keep the swelling down in my spine and my nerves from pinching so I can function.

If anyone has any tips on how to minimize the swelling in my spine I would appreciate your tips.

I am a veteran and have the VA as my back up in case this gets drawn out but right now I'm just trying to get the nerve pinching down so I can fucntion at work during the day mostly pain free.

Hi Casper, I'm really sorry the WC is being ridiculous! What torture to go through ontop of being hurt. My 2nd accident I had I was on the job too, and I know the run around WC can give you. Here in Michigan, it didn't take that long but since my job was on the road and I was rear-ended, I also had coordinated benefits with the auto company so it moved quicker. My prayer is that you have a swift resolve. Even if you waited a few days to report how bad you were, I don't think it should make a bit of difference and you'll get all your benefits you're entitiled too!! I have no doubt about that! It's awful how some of the insurance companies can be. In the meantime, see if you can locate a doctor ortho or spine specialist that deals in workers comp cases. They may be able to help assist getting things moving for you too. Outside of that, recline as much as you can, ice too, alternate a good heating pad, put a remote in your hand until the doc's can get you back going as soon as possible. I'm here for support if needed, even just to vent! Very truly and well wishes, Linda

i'd be remiss in NOT posting this....

ibuprofen and celebrex are in the same class of drugs (NSAIDs) and taking the max dose of both is NOT good for your stomach at all... i've seen people with GI bleeding from both individually, but together is potentially worse.

has your doctor told you to take both at once? i'm not your dr and obviously i'm not going to treat anyone over the internet... but like i said, i'd be a bad dr in not pointing this out to discuss with whomever is treating you...

good luck w/ everything. sounds like you're in a rough situation...

I'll echo what laid up doc said above. The amount of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) that you are taking is a very high dose. Make sure to speak with your treating physician(s) regarding this, as you can do a lot of damage to your kidneys, liver and stomach. NSAIDs do help with inflammation, but they will only help to a certain extent for a "pinched" nerve. While they help remove inflammatory mediators, they are not able to mechanically alter compression of a nerve.

    Good luck with your case.
