You are a true bionic woman, Cindylou. Each step forward is wonderful. I'm impressed by the fish catch. I've only caught a few in my life and don't fish much even though we live on a lake. The best one I caught was in a moving motorboat with the line dragging behind the boat. That fish had to be fast. Enjoy the cool. It was 109 F here today.

So glad you're getting good relief. It sounds like a bit of a contortionist's act with your recharging process but practice makes perfect. It'll all slot into place eventually. It's onwards & upwards . Enjoy your improving pain relief. I'm really pleased things are going well. Long may it continue

Thank-you Kathy. It has indeed been a long, long journey for me. Over 10 years since I first had the bicycle accident and broke my back in 2 places. And now, all these surgeries later. I'm clearly not out of the woods yet, just very hopeful and grateful for each passing day that I find relief. I have over-done it a few days and then really paid for it. I have got to pace myself. It's hard because I don't sit still well, but I'm praying for patience to get through these next 4 weeks, especially, while the electrodes are scarring over. Thank-you too Ruth for your encouragement. I am going to meet with Medtronic this afternoon to see if they can help me in this learning curve with charging the battery and getting the placement just right. Alison, you asked about the size of the battery in my left butt cheek and I would guess it is about 2 " x 2 ". But I'll ask the Medtronic guy today for certain. Thanks again for all the well-wishes everyone and I'll continue to post both good and bad on this journey. Cindylou (oh, KanrunMo, that style of fishing is called trolling. My hubby likes to catch Northern Pike that way!)

Thank you so much for sharing this information on your journey with the spinal stimulator I have my fingers crossed that this really works for you. I have my first appointment at a pain clinic in just about a week, to discuss this as an option for my back pain. This will be my first visit to a pain clinic so I'm very hopeful in this next attempt at pain management, dealing with lumbar pain for over twenty years I am ready to take any relief or alternatives they have to offer. As of now i am still working 40 hours a week but i'm miserable-- sitting is ridiculously uncomfortable and even though I take no pain medication during the day I have terrible concentration & memory levels because I'm in so much pain, once i walk in the door at home I take pain meds and have moved a twin bed into the living room as i cannot sit any longer. Thanks again for sharing your story and I will continue to follow your recovery as i consider this option for myself. Take care, and don't overdo it!

    CindyLou,
I guess I had some catching up to do as I didn't realize you were getting an SCS. So glad to hear you're thru the implanting process and getting some relief while lowering meds~ must feel so much better mentally as well as what you're hoping to accomplish re pain control!

I too was wondering if the SCS is really noticeable when one is undressed as I imagine it's easy enough to hide it with clothing or does it bulge out at all? Don't mean to be nosy or rude just my PMs used to tell me I was too skinny for one (I was weighing 102-106 lbs at 5'2" tho have gained a bit of weight in last 2 years). I am well controlled w/low dose daily opioid medication tho have often wondered about the SCS.

Wishing you well with your newest implant and hope it takes care of most if not all your pain and allows you to be functional doing activities you need and love to do

    CindyLou,

How are you doing? You are so brave!!!! I've been reading up on this thing and it's got some funky side-effects. One of them was it has to be turned off
when you fly because somehow it can cause radio interference. Also, if your credit card is close to your butt, it can de-magnetize the strip!
Just what I read, don't know if it's true! Just thought that one was kinda funny.

Hope you are healing well and feeling better than ever. It's so nice to know it's providing you some relief from your pain.

    Take care,
    Jennifer
