I absolutely believe attitude and mood effect pain levels. When I'm in pity party mode I hurt more.

IMHO, I think it has been proved that there is a mind-body connection.
I would think that this (the results of this study) would apply across the genders.
Of course, fibromyalgia, may produce different pain signals than say discogenic pain.
I think if you are in pain, it is best to remain as calm as possible; harder to do than say.
I also think that we don't know a lot about pain.

Please explain because a few doctors told me I might have a CTD.
C4-5: Mild disc height loss with central annular fissure. Small broad-based left paracentral disc protrusion. Moderate central canal stenosis-the disc protrusion abuts and mildly flattens the left ventral surface of the spinal canal.

C5-6: Disc desiccation with mild height loss.Diffuse discosteophyte bulge and uncovertebral joint hypertrophy, moderate central canal stenosis- Severe neuroforaminal stenosis bilaterally, right greater than left

^Isn't fibromyalgia a connective tissue disorder?

I'd do exhaustive tests and research before accepting a fibromyalgia diagnosis. I was told that I had this before I was diagnosed with DDD and such at L4/5. I think many of the fibromyalgia diagnoses are people who have a real problem, but that doctors aren't able to find or willing to look for. In some cases, I think people who doctors think are pill seeking are told fibromyalgia as a label (and some of those people probably are pill seeking.) I refused to accept that as my diagnosis, as I knew there was something wrong with me and they just needed to find it.

    Crash to desktop?

Connective tissue disorder? Rheumatoid arthritis, lupus? You'd be hurting all over. I'll eat my hat if you've got either of them JK. I'll post it on youtube and everything. It's a dirty old akubra so it might be a long video.

What you're experiencing is pain, but sometimes more so disability -> does your head. Believe me I have this too, also young and find it tough to be around active people living their lives.

"a few doctors told me I might have a CTD."

This is doctor talk for 'I don't know'.

Amen Kathy and Hooch. I was told more than once I had Fibromyalgia, after my bike accident. I never once bought it. That is the doctor "drawing straws," imho. CL
