Savella is a fairly new medication that was approved by the FDA last year for the management of Fibromyalgia, see http://www.savella.com/

Savella is a selective serotonin and norephinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI).

While I do not have Fibro, my pain doc rec i try it for neuropathic pain. He gave me a free titration pack, and then i'm not sure how $$$ it will be. B/c I suffer from insomnia, I am going to try just taking an AM dose (rather than an AM and PM dose). My doc told me to keep taking it with Gapapentin as they work on different receptors.

Anyway, just thought it would be something for those needlessly suffering to ask their docs about if Savella would help them, discuss risks, benefits, etc. My concern right now is that you can't mix Savella (a serotonin med) with anther serotonin med, without potentially resulting in serotonim syndrome, a rare, but potentially lethal consequence. I take Triptan meds for migraines so i just have to be careful with interacting them too often.

I'm starting it tomorrow and I'll try and report back on how it's working for me in a few wks.

cheers,
Liz
