I have never taken tapendatol but I looked it up on webmd. It seems to be a slow release of oxycontin or similar to oxycontin. It said it was soon to be approved by the FDA. Obviously it has already been approved for chronic back pain.
This is a discussion on tapendatol - Nucynta within the Pain Management forums, part of the General Spine Discussion Forums category; Has anyone on here had experience with Nucynta - tapendatol? It was prescribed for me yesterday and I'm looking for ...

Relieved of pain for now
Hope for ADR
I looked it up also and the most recent info I could find says it's like tramadol so I was just curious if anyone was getting some relief from using it. It says it's expensive and if it's useless I can't afford to waste the money. Tramadol does not help with my pain. I rather think it's a drug rep pushing it in the dr. office. Thanks for your reply and assistance though!

Hi Catherine,
Tapendatol is like tramadol, as it works as a long-acting opioid (think Oxycontin) and also works on norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor similar to how an antidepressant works. Thus, it works on chronic pain and helps with mood (chronic pain and depression often go hand in hand). It's expensive because it's a newer med. Good luck.![]()
I have success with the slow release tramadol (called zamadol here), I combine with paracetemol & gabapentin , and take to a schedule not on feeling pain.
Thanks so much for the info. Tramadol has never helped me, so I guess I'm not going to spend the money. I saw the pain management dr. for the second time today and he has upped the gabapentin and changed me to Zanaflex. He won't prescribe opioids however, so I have to go back to the Dr that will for those!![]()
