My son was hit with gun shot 6 months ago. he has foot paralysis and bladder problems. We are wondering if time will heal his wounds or if the damage to the spinal nerves at L-5 is permanent.

Hello, I am very sorry to hear this. I wonder was he operated then? Unfortunately, Cauda equina leaves consequences years and years later, sometimes during whole lifetime.

    ejddid,

What a terrible story! I have a family member whose spinal cord was severed at C7-T1 by a gunshot wound seven years ago, so I can certainly empathize.

Which nerves of the caudal equinus were damaged? Were they able to remove all debris?

I'm sorry that I can't answer your questions, but I will certainly pray for a recovery.

    Good luck!
