    Default Chair and bed

Hi everyone, I was wondering about everybody chair and bed situation. So here my deal i'm staying at my parents house to recover. My old bed here is very old and NOT firm. Then I can't sit any where in the house except a chair at the dining room table. So I was wondering how crucial is to have a good bed and chair to put your legs up? I'm about 3 weeks out and I'm not comfortable any where.

".......3 weeks out" from what? What type of surgery did you have Fullmoon? That would definitely help in answering your question, but the short answer is it is very important to have good support of a mattress recovering from just about any surgery. Cindylou

On April 12th I had spinal fusion surgery. I crush a bone in my back so they had to go in put some bars and screw
to stabilize it. Then they took some bone and fused it together to promote bone growth.
So I'm a little over 3 weeks out post surgery and
recovering at my parents house with a old not firm bed and no chair to put my legs up at a 0-60 degree angle. I can only sit at a dining room table chair.
I was wondering how crucial is it to have a good bed and chair because I don't have either here.

Hi Fullmoon, it's not crucial per se to have a good bed and chair to recover from spine surgery. However, a "good" bed and chair will make your recovery more comfortable. The major "repair mechanisms" that our bodies utilize / undergo after surgery are more or less on auto pilot -- meaning we don't really have to do much in order to heal. With that said, there are certain things that will help your body during your recovery: sleeping well, eating healthy, avoiding twisting / bending / high impact activities, not smoking, etc.

I wish you the very best during your recovery.

Yeah, I agree with the above. Not totally necessary, but I loved kicking back in my comfy Lazyboy after my surgery!
