I know this is everyone's least favorite subject, but honestly, you need to know that the new medication, Relistor, that blocks the constipation effects of opiate medication - works like a charm!

After 5 days of nothing, I finally had my sister-in-law (whose a nurse) come over to show me how to inject myeslf with it. She walked me through it since I hadn't done it before ... piece of cake!

Within 30 minutes, my problem was solved ... easily and without pain.

Honestly, I have to kick myself for not trying it before.

Don't hesitate to ask for it.

Hey thanks everyone for all the information, suggestions and help!
I will be staying at my mom's right after the surgery for a few days after reading all the opinions I agree it is for the best.
I have been busy getting everything ready and purchasing things for after the surgery that I do not have from the lists.
I have a list of ?s for my pre op exam one being the anit-constipation meds!
I feel more confident going into this because of you all, thank you. I wish I could say I was 100% excited but I would be lying. I am nervous and rightfully so but I would walk to the South Pole on my hands if there was a chance of living a better quality of life than right now...so I know I have made a good decision.
If you have more to share as far as prep, outcomes, recovery etc please continue to share!
I only hope that when I am on the other side of this all I can be as helpful to someone as you all have been to me.
