Does anyone know how good Dr. Garfin at UCSD in San Diego really is? I saw him and he recommended a x-lift fusion at L4/L5. First he wants to do a discogram. Dr. Garfin gives me a 60% chance of success if I fit his specifications for surgery after a discogram. I have seen five other surgeons. My life is nothing like it was before the accident. If the percentages were better I would do the fusion. But 60% seems low. I want my old body back.
I am also searching for support group in the San Diego area. I have looked online but have not come across anything. I also have herniated disk with tear at C5/C6 which flairs at times and be very painful but then go away. In the last three months I now have bad ear pain and that burning nerve pain in my L ear. Plus neck pain 24/7. Saw primary and then ENT (re ear pain) dr who did a hearing test (normal) and he told most likely the disk is pressing on a nerve causing the ear symptoms. If you know of support group in San Diego please let me know.
