    Default Lumbar Laminectomy Recovery Research

Search function has brought up very little re:lumbar laminectomy procedural recovery time, etc. At this point a new thread might be easier. I was going to inquire a little about it in the welcome thread, but it appears some struggle to say hello

Would like to hear back from some who've had this procedure, your recovery times, how it's worked for you, etc.

    Hey Sasquatch,

I had a lumbar laminotomy (similar to a laminectomy) at the age of 17. Personally, it took me around 3 months to start feeling better and about 6 months to really start to "turn the corner." The surgery went well, but I still had some residual leg pain after surgery (I had another spine surgery 6 years later due to a car accident).

    I hope this helps.

    Hi!

I had a L5/S1 Laminectomy/Micro-Distectomy(sp?) 9/15/2009 and I was back to work in 1 month however the pain came back in 12 weeks. I woman I works withs mother had the same thing done 2 weeks before me and is doing GREAT! She is 78 and I'm 26. I think it works different for every person.

    Good Luck!

Thank you very much Julie and Justin, hope you get well soon with your back Julie. I found out what I needed today, elsewhere.
