    Hi Katie,
I am suppose to have the same operation using the NuVasive XLIF. Do you think it is a good idea? Is there anything else I could try? Let me know. I also have scoliosis. I think he may be doing two operations. Oh goody! Thanks. Carmen

    Hi Carmen,

I can't recommend Dr. Pimenta highly enough. He has over 1000 surgeries under his belt and gave me a wonderful 'gut feeling' when we met. You know what I mean....after speaking at length to a surgeon, you either have great faith in him or not, and I immediately liked him and had great respect for his skills and experience.

I think you could do very well by sending your MRIs and x-rays to him as soon as possible. He mentioned doing cases like yours (with scoliosis) several times, so it is certainly not unknown territory for him.

I'll send you a PM as well.

    Toodles,
    Katie

Severe compression of spinal cord, flaval ligament, etc. at C4/5 & 5/6.
Herniation and compression, at L3/4 to L5/S1 plus spondylosis at the latter level. Severe allergy to most metals.
Three level surgery in Brazil with Dr. Luiz Pimenta on March 17/2010 using non-metal appliances. L5/S1-PEEK cage, ALIF; L4/5-PEEK cage, XLIF; C5/6-NuVasive NeoDisc. Three separate approaches, two minimally invasive. Currently minor residual back pain, from SI ligament and still overdoing things . Therapy and chiropractic treatments helping immensely. Gone from being almost bedridden to near normal activities including gardening. Life is gooooood!

    Hi Carmen,

Have you had any luck with sending your records off? You should email Rafael, his associate and let him know what you are doing, so he can keep an eye out for them.

What level(s) are you thinking are needing work?

    All the best,
    Katie
