I did buy one mattress a year or so ago and had to return it, it was a very hard mattress, like sleeping on a block of wood. I realised you need one that only deforms enough to support your shape, but it still heavily sprung enuff not to sink under your lumbar area. A lot of the pricey mattresses I looked at didn't really offer much in terms of ergonomic support. Surprisingly some of the cheaper mattresses felt better.

The best mattress I have ever slept on was one I borrowed off a mate while he moved house, it was awesome, sprung just perfectly to support your back, slept like a baby and my back felt great. When I next buy a mattress I will doze on it in the shop for quite a while before dropping that much dough.

You crack me up hooch. I actually wanted to buy the mattress they had on the cruise we went on, but it was outrageous expensive. That's the best sleeping ever, probably had more to do with the ice cold room, complete darkness and lull of the ocean than the mattress, but dang, never slept so good. Yup, I go on vacation to sleep.

Yes, Kathy, it probably had a lot to do with the wonderful lure and sound of the lapping water outside your window. We used to have a yacht, years ago. It was our floating cabin. We look back now and can't believe we actually owned that thing for a number of years, because it was a dang big boat. We named her The Yankee Lady. She was a beaut. Anyway, my whole point is, I slept some of my best years on that boat. With the window cranked open and the sound of the lapping water at my beckoning call....it just pulled me into wonderful slumber. CL
