Default PEEK CAGE Decompression Laminectomy/ Fusion of L5/S1

I had my Pre-Op on yesterday meeting with the gastro surgeon (anterial incision), cleared for surgery and had my physical. My BP was very high again but I'm sure that's a mix of things from nerves to pain meds and getting a huge 4hrs sleep.....ahhh let's not forget work stress.

My FML got approved a few weeks ago and I'm cleared for the entire 3 months. Thank God. Hope they don't can me if I need more. I doubt they will.

Now it's just a matter of counting the days down.

    I am getting so nervous.

I am getting a new phone coming up next week that has APPs out the ying yang so I will spend a good amount of time online.
    • Pain started 3/09
    • MRI on 7/09 shows Spondylothesis L5/S1 and disc herniation.
    • PT for 4 months, made things worse.
    • Had epidural shot 10/09 with no luck
    • Had a Mylogram in 11/09 for more testing
    • Took time to think if I was going to get surgery.......
    • February 24th is my date to be pain free.

    Dear Mastermind,
WooHoo! Your date will be here soon! The two of us can be nervous together because my surgery is right before yours. Are you able to sleep? Would you say you are afraid or is it the fear of the unknown? I just had my pre-op doctor visit too.....my heart rate was over 100. I felt like a big geek. I think I might be more nervous than I feel. I wish you the best!

Lol....My BP was 149...then 146 and an hr later it was down to 110. I first met with the surgeon to do my front cut...then an internist to clear me for surgery...then back to the hospital for urin and blood tests. I was shocked how high it was.

I take Ambien almost every night for sleep. That's because of the pain from me moving around but yea my nerves are shot man!!!

I have 5 tats and both nipples pierced....looking all tough but really it really shows I'm not in this case. Lol

Were trying to make our lives better and lets hope this does it.

I'm afraid......nervous and scared, to answer your other question....sorry I missed it.

I'm doing this for me and so that I can be more of a father to my boy. We would always wrestle and play around and now I dont because I know it will hurt and I'm just scared of making things worse. I know in the beginning the pain I feel now will be nothing in comparison to what I will feel after surgery but I am willing to take that in order to live the rest of my life pain free.
