    Default PLIFAll done

    Hi All,
Had my surgery on the 15th July, home on the 19th, Up and walking, but the dreaded sciatica has retutned but mainly down one leg only so thats not so bad. Any ideas on how long I should have to wait before being pain free? I Just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who has taken the time to be so kind and supportive on the forum, I cannot express how much difference it made to me.

Hope everything has gone ok Tuliptoday - can't help with your sciatica but can you give me an idea on what sort of drugs your on and your mobility levels. Due to have a 3 level done in just over week and starting to get nervous about it.

    Many thanks and speedy recovery

That's the million dollar question... There are a rare few who are pain free immediately or within weeks, this is NOT the norm. For most each day is better than the last and you can expect full recovery from 6 months to 2 years. With ADR it took me 18 months to be completely pain and medication free.
31 years old- 1/06- In wreck with 18 wheeler at 25 years old; 6/06- Head on collision on Interstate, both wrecks other drivers fault. Numerous MRI's, PT, chiropractic, acupuncture, TENS therapy, massage therapy, facet injections, epidural injections, Nerve study, Discogram, confirms pain in L4/5, IDET, decompression, Bi-lateral neurotomy L3/4/5, denied by insurance twice, in Active L clinical trial, had surgery March 17, 2009 in Miami, FL- received Active L disc at 29 years old. Pain and medication free as of October 2010!Mommy to Emma- 8 years, Ava- 6 years & had baby Eli after ADR, via c-section on March 25, 2011 , completely pain free still!

    Hi Phil
I am on slow release morphine, paracetamol and dihydrocodeine. I also take an over the counter anti inflamatory. I walked 1/4 of a mile, just over, 8 days after my op. Walkings not the problem its the sitting for no longer than 30 mins for 6 weeks, I cant bend twist or lift anything heavier than a bag of sugar, and I get tired v easily but other than that I guess its ok. I have a physio appt next week and then start hydrotherapy so hopefully my mobility will be on the up. Good luck with your op, first 3 days are the worst!
