Default Posterior Anterior 2 Level Fusion DONE!!!

    Hey all!
Well Its been 2 weeks since the surgery and I am trying to recoup as best as I can. The surgeon did warn me about a new level of pain but I really thought he was not realizing how much pain I was already in... boy I was wrong. I was in the hospital for 5 days. The surgery was 5 hours and went really well.

A note for everyone going into the fusion surgery get your OWN laxative! The hospital just wants a bowl movement ONCE during your stay! At least that was the way it was with me. Being backed up caused so much more pain it was unbearable some days.

Still not much of an appetite, but that might help me lose all this weight I have gained, LOL j/k

But all in all still glad I have done it... so far. Still crossing my fingers over my leg. Got to wait to see what happens after the shock wears off. I have learned that the leg goes numb for a bit after the surgery and then a few weeks later have totally different symptoms.

Thanks everyone for all the love and support!

Glad it went well also. Yes prunes, and even prune juice, will be your new best friends for awhile. I also take a stool softner and that is helpful too. Have you got your pain at manageable levels?

I took colace, which was wonderful. I also ended up getting a rx laxative b/c it was so bad, think it was Amitiza. Glad that everything went well. That after surgery pain is horrific, I literally prayed to die for the first 2 days after surgery, it was so bad; but each day is a little better than the last. Take it easy, Kathy
