Small world we live in. I have had a look at all his research and also managed to speak to some of his patients who all say he is a excellent surgeon. He is also a really nice and genuine man.

Hello Ryan and welcome to this forum. I wish your wife all the best with her forthcoming surgeries.

Do you know how many sacro-iliac fusions Mr Ampat has performed and what his outcomes are like? I ask because I worked as a nurse at Ormskirk Hospital for over 22 years (before lumbar disc prolapses led to ill-health retirement) and also at the local private hospital where Mr Ampat also performs surgery and have nursed his patients.

It must be reassuring that his patients speak highly of him, have you spoken to any who've had S/I joint fusion? There is a member of the adrsupport uk forum who had such surgery in London, he has very complex spine issues and is still experiencing pain unfortunately.

I look forward to reading how your wife progresses.

    Very best wishes

Thankyou for your kind words Lynda, this really is a small world to find someone on here who has worked with Mr Ampat. I asked him about previous sacroiliac fusions and he said to be honest its a rare operation and the problem mainly develops secondary to other spine related conditions (which my wife does not have) so it would be hard to compare outcomes.

I have not spoke to anyone of his patients who have had the surgery but I have spoke to a few with spinal fusions and they have said it fused fine and saw an improvement in pain, however it really is hard to compare as most people seem to have multiple problems associated with the spine at once. Fortunatly for us after all the tests and scans it appears that Sarah (my wife) has no other related problems and just one of sacroiliac dysfunction so I believe that the prognosis from the operation is quite positive for us.
