This sentence interests me a lot. "Planned C4/5 discectomy portion aborted intraop since autofused at that level and alignment was good; both osteophytes removed. 24/7 nerve pain for 1 horrific year."
I have a bad C5/6 and 4/5 depending on which doctor you speak to, and the latest one thinks that the worst one, the 5/6, is starting to autofuse and wants to maybe leave it be. There are osteophytes plus the disc compressing on the cord. Are you saying that your pain showed up after they took out the osteophytes? If so, what was the reason?I'm glad that it was resolved at least for awhile and that you will be able to relieve your pain soon. It is scary to lose strength and/or coordination of the limbs, isn't it.
I hope you are here for good, not just lurking ;-). You certainly have a lot to exchange with us.
Severe compression of spinal cord, flaval ligament, etc. at C4/5 & 5/6.
Herniation and compression, at L3/4 to L5/S1 plus spondylosis at the latter level. Severe allergy to most metals.
Three level surgery in Brazil with Dr. Luiz Pimenta on March 17/2010 using non-metal appliances. L5/S1-PEEK cage, ALIF; L4/5-PEEK cage, XLIF; C5/6-NuVasive NeoDisc. Three separate approaches, two minimally invasive. Currently minor residual back pain, from SI ligament and still overdoing things. Therapy and chiropractic treatments helping immensely. Gone from being almost bedridden to near normal activities including gardening. Life is gooooood!
