That's great news Dave and I completely understand the feeling. So happy for you!
This is a discussion on Waiting game over... surgery will be on Friday within the Spinal Fusion (Including Discectomy & Laminectomy Procedures) forums, part of the Spine Surgery Support category; ... yippeeeee!!!! - I know, weird thing to say, but Dang it, I'm really looking forward to getting that disk ...
... yippeeeee!!!! - I know, weird thing to say, but Dang it, I'm really looking forward to getting that disk off the nerve!
We are doing a Hemilaminectomy of L5-S1, and hopefully I'll be home Friday night, or at least by lunch time Saturday. I know, I'm rushing it, but I have spent too much time in hospitals, and I want to start living my own life, and not one that the pain dictates. So there.
And yeah, I know, it'll be a while before I truly feel well, and June before I can really start resuming life etc, but hey having one foot through the door really sounds good right now. In the mean time, healing, even slowly, beats the crap out of waiting.
Take care all, and I'll be back online afterwards.
Cheers,
Dave

Hi All,
I'm home, and dealing with those first few days after surgery (ie, I feel like kaka). I've had one episode of the pain shooting down my sciatic, hopefully there won't be more. I didn't get to talk to the MD, but my wife did, and evidently he had to take out much more disk than he wanted to, and 'the first month will tell us a lot' ... never what you want to hear, but ah well.
Otherwise the only issue is I can't sleep in the bed - I'm too afraid that my wife will bump me in the night, so back to the chair with me. Hopefully the worst is over, and another week will let me know lots. In the mean time, I'm tired, gonna go for a walk, then back to rest.
Take care all,
Dave

Those first few days after surgery are really tough for many folks. Count me as one of them. You'll slowly get your footing back, bit by bit. Just remember to take it slow, no race here to heal fast. Listen to your body. Glad you're on the other side. My best to you, Cindylou
