    Thumbs Down Car Accident

    Well,

It has been awhile since I have been on. MAINLY due to laptop problems..GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!

    I am needing ADVICE!!

Thursday was a VERY rainy day and I was on my way to visit a friend when my SUV slid onto the gravel, then proceeded to jump into oncoming traffic, after turning my steering wheel so that I wouldn't hit the car coming at me head on, it then spun 4 or 5 times, went up on the drivers side 2 wheels and slid backwards into a ditch hitting a fence and coming to a halting stop!!! I have NO IDEA what stopped it from rolling but THANKFULLY it didn't.

After it stopped I turned my truck off and sat there for about 5 minutes then got out to call for help. I called a friend and we called a tow truck, the tow truck came and took my truck to my mechanic and I went home with my friend.

I didn't feel pain right after the accident (no more than my regular pain) but by thursday night I was starting to have muscle spasms- which I was FULLY expecting. BUT over the weekend and the last 2 days I have become MUCH worse! I am now experiencing NEW leg pain and numbness different from my 'regular' pain. I have been calling my dr but of course i cannot get into to see him until January 22 which is SO STUPID!!

I guess what I want to know is, how long after an accident do you usually start to feel the affects?? I am not really sure what the heck is going on, I had a friend tell me that if I didn't have the symptoms right after my accident then this pain etc is NOT related to the accident.

DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY ADVICE, KNOWLEDGE ETC??

    MISSED YOU ALL!!
    MARY

Mary, I would get to a hospital, right away. I've had several friends have it take days or longer for things to show up after an accident. That's why you don't sign any waivers immediately after one. You know how after you hurt yourself with regular stuff, it is always worse on the third day, it seems?

And you are playing with some very touchy stuff here...your spine and nerves. Please don't wait till January for an appointment. Did you tell them you were in a car accident? That should make a difference in being able to get in.

And no, I'm not a doctor, but better to be safe than sorry. After all, it doesn't cost anything to get checked out, just time. Get some help about the spasms. My chiropractor or acupuncturist often helps with things like that, but see a regular doctor first to rule out other stuff if you can. And please keep us posted. I was wondering where you were!

How is your little girl? Not involved in the accident, I hope?? You had an on your shoulder with this one, my dear, to avoid a much worse ending. Hugs, and prayers that this is something minor, which will clear up with some physical therapy.

That sounds like you got tossed arround pretty good. I second you should see a doctor and if yoru probles continue to worsen beyond what you are used to maybe even emergency. During a crash ones adrenaline levels go up and the body blocks pain. Also an injury can swell up and then you don't feel it until later.

Make sure you are ok, see a doctor. I hope you ok and the pain will subside.

    Katie,

Well, I have an MRI on order just waiting for the date, which will more than likely take FOREVER!!

I am in a TON of pain!! The pain in my low back and left leg is UNBEARABLE at times, I don't even know what to do with myself.

THANK YOU though for your kind words and checking in on me. I do try to get on here at least once a day but I can't really sit for too long so it is hard to spend time on here.

I HOPE all is well with you and that you are finding the end in your journey. The waiting game is FRUSTRATING and thats putting it lightly!!

Well, with the holidays coming you know it is going to take even LONGER to get any answers!! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!! You know the funny thing is if we would actually get these tests done in a timely manner when we are at our worst it might make things move a little faster, but when it takes months to have an MRI and than MONTHS to get into a Specialist, it all doesn't make sense!!

    Anyways, talk at ya later!!

    Take care

I'm sorry you are suffering so much. Did you try alternative therapy...massage, chiro, etc.? They may help, as sometimes this can be muscle strain and they can tell you that and hopefully provide some relief. I have no idea if this is your case, but it might help to ask at least.

I think of you often and hope that you enjoy some improvement soon.

And thanks for posting a new picture of your little darling

Very sorry to hear about your accident and the waiting game.

While you are waiting, are you taking any anti-inflammatories and/or muscle relaxants? Your primary physician should be able to prescribe you something, including the possibility of a steroid pack. Otherwise, NSAIDs (e.g., ibuprofen or naproxen) might be able to help while you wait.

    Good luck,
