    Default Feeling real lousy....

Hey all, I am not sure what is going on but I have been having alot of pain in and around my stomach area. I haven't been able to eat anything in days. When I finally try to eat something easy on the stomach I start to really hurt again. Pepto gave some relief but not long lasting and then it stopped helping at all. I've also been just pouring out My husband finally took me to urgent care yesterday, late afternoon. They took blood work and a urine sample and checked my gallbladder, my kidneys, and my liver. That was all fine. There was blood in my urine but he couldn't find anything else wrong. He said it could be I am getting ready to pass a kidney stone. (past history over 20 years ago) He said he didn't think it was a virus since I had no fever and my blood pressure was good. I've also been nauseous, but haven't vomited yet. They gave me a shot of Demerol in my bum but it gave me no relief. They then gave me a shot of Torodol (never heard of it) and I got some relief from that. Any ideas?

CL- Sounds like the symptoms I was having post-surgery, I was told it was adhesions.

Kathy, did it really hurt after eating? I haven't had that symptom...my adhesions hurt all the time. Like a sharp ache in my lower abdomen. I'm curious with the different cases.

CL, I hope that if it is stones that they can get rid of them easily for you. I have another friend suffering from them right now as well, and it is taking forever to get surgery. I hate our system some days. But it was an issue with her family doctor, not the surgeon at least.

Three separate approaches, two minimally invasive. Currently minor residual back pain, from SI ligament and still overdoing things . Therapy and chiropractic treatments helping immensely. Gone from being almost bedridden to near normal activities including gardening. Life is gooooood!

Katie- It did hurt after eating, it was where I didn't even want to eat; because it made it worse (and that is so not me, I LOVE to eat, it's a hobby/passion of mine). It was sharp and crampy pain, sometime I would be constipated and have it, other times, not constipated. It also felt like a 'pulling' inside of me. Check out this website http://www.healthcentral.com/chronic...153911-75.html
Be forewarned, that the symptoms for adhesions are also the symptoms for ovarian cysts and other problems. Here is the link to my post-surgical thread, which has more of my symptoms http://spinepatientsociety.org/forum...hread.php?t=87
and another link to a thread on it http://spinepatientsociety.org/forum...read.php?t=176

Hope you get to feeling better soon, pain sucks!

    Cindylou,

I'm very sorry to hear about your stomach pains.

If I remember correctly, you've recently mentioned that you worked yourself off of Vicadins. Have you recently started or increased your NSAID dosage or had any other medicinal changes?

I haven't increased my anti-inflammatories, but I am still taking them. Well, not right now, due to the stomach issues. It does seem like I am getting some relief having been off the Ibuprofin a few days. Now I have a nasty sore throat, so perhaps it is a virus running it's course. I slept most of yesterday. Just exhausted. Not sure what the blood in the urine is about. Maybe nothing? I don't know anything about adhesions. Think I'll still do a wait and see approach. Kathy, what are you going to do about your adhesions? Surgery, right? Thank-you all for the well-wishes.

Cl- blood in the urine is usually an indication of a urinary tract infection. They usually prescribe antibiotics to clear that up. A UTI can cause increased back pain, pain while urinating (like a burning feeling), stomach pain.

On the adhesions, they can't really say for sure if you have them or not, there is some imaging that can be done; but usually not until surgery do they know. I was set to have surgery; but haven't been having any symptoms, so I have decided to postpone and see if it is gone.

Oh, that is excelent Kathy. I hope those nasty symptoms flush themselves down the toilet for good! The doctor said my kidneys and liver were fine. Wouldn't the blood count on the kidneys have showed a deviation if there was a urinary tract infection? It doesn't burn at all when I go. I am just going alot! Oh brother, I am scheduled to see the gastroenterologist tomorrow, and maybe I should be seeing the gyn. Wrong end maybe?! I don't know. Thanks for the suggestions, as always.

Hi CL, Yes, there should have been an increased white blood count for a UT infection. I'm just finishing off antibiotics for one myself

With adhesions, Kathy is correct with all the symptoms. I have been told however that the only way to see if you have them is by doing a laparoscopy. I had a hysterectomy in March 03, managed to get an infection from it and ended up with large amounts of adhesions. The surgeon did a scope the following February when I kept complaining of abdominal pain, and found the scar tissue wrapped around my small intestine. He was able to snip some of the worst ones, but said I had too many to do much about and I'd have to live with it. Sound familiar with other things?

There are a couple of treatments available, one that Kathy is investigating, and another in Germany that I am looking at. I am a bit worried about a bowel obstruction to be honest, but the gastroenterologist didn't have a problem getting the scope all the way up a couple of weeks ago. Guess that's a good sign

You have several different symptoms going on, and I wish I could offer more ideas. It is confusing to me though. Sorry, and I hope you find relief soon.
