    Default Fell on ice yesterday

I fell on the blasted **#!!*$ ice yesterday morning while house hunting and broke my right hand. Not such a good thing to happen whilst trying to pack! I just want to curl up in a cocoon some where and wish all my problems away. It's in a splint right now from urgent care, but am supposed to see hand orthopedic doc within a day or two.....with all the free time I have.

Oh sweetie, I'm sending a ton of hugs...is it a bad break? A big snap or a hairline one that might mend faster?

Guess you have to slow down now...which is good for your back.....dang it all, anyway. These things happen at the worst possible times, don' they. I'm thinking of you.

    Toodles,
    Katie

Herniation and compression, at L3/4 to L5/S1 plus spondylosis at the latter level. Severe allergy to most metals.
Three level surgery in Brazil with Dr. Luiz Pimenta on March 17/2010 using non-metal appliances. L5/S1-PEEK cage, ALIF; L4/5-PEEK cage, XLIF; C5/6-NuVasive NeoDisc. Three separate approaches, two minimally invasive. Currently minor residual back pain, from SI ligament and still overdoing things . Therapy and chiropractic treatments helping immensely. Gone from being almost bedridden to near normal activities including gardening. Life is gooooood!

These things do happen at the worst times. But it is feeling amazingly better today. I have been wearing the splint and still managed to house hunt for a few hours today and pack some more. A friend came over and helped, which was very nice. Tomorrow I see the hand specialist...I am really hoping that it's not as bad after all. Thanks for listening. I was so down last night with the pain from it and the difficulty trying to even eat. But, I feel more encouraged today. Still haven't found a house, but...baby steps.

Sending thoughts and well wishes your way. Spring is just around the corner....not real comforting, huh? If I lived near you I would bring some doughnuts! They seem to always be appropriate. Gosh, how pathetic am I?
