    Default Had a bad day......

I hate to whine, but today was just crappy. My pain was worse than usual, which is still better than it was; but no fun nonetheless. I don't know if it's because I had a busy day yesterday- took the kids to see Toy Story 3, took them shopping and then baked cupcakes. Or It's because I stopped taking my muscle relaxers at night, which means I haven't been sleeping great. I'm frustrated that I'm not where I want to be pain wise. I also am feeling like crap and nauseous, which happens pretty often, ever since surgery at least. Don't know why, only thing ever found was ovarian cysts. I just want to wake up and feel good, not have to lay around and wait for my medication to kick in. I just feel like crying and screaming, this is such a frustrating place to be, so close yet so far away. Thanks for listening to me whine, I'll come out of my pity party tomorrow and fight the fight again and see the glass half full.

Sorry to hear about your bummer of a day I didnt have a fantastic one myself either and was going to post something but you did the work for me. So instead of feeling sorry for myself I can feel better by feeling sorry for you. Take the muscle relaxers if they help you sleep better. I know they do for me. Hope you get some good rest and have a better day when you wake up tomorrow.

Just remember that even though you didnt feel too great throughout the day the amount of joy and happiness you brought to the kids watching toy story 3, going shopping and making cupcakes should make you feel great about yourself. If only when we were kids if we knew the sacrifices our parents went through to brighten our day the littlest bit....I probably wouldnt have saud I hated them so much (hah....raging hormone adolescense)

Hope you feel better today Kathy. Sometimes, I think when we are feeling pretty good, it's that one last thing we did that just pushes us over back into worse pain, you know? Like doing Toy Story 3 was great (we saw it too....loved it!), and even some shopping with the girls afterwards, you were probably fine. But then coming home and making cupcakes might have just pushed you over the top. Make sense? I could never, in my current state, do all those activities strung together. We finally dragged our canoe out of storage and went canoing one day when the water was just glass. I did fine, but afterwards, I try and do a very quiet activity. A few years back I would not have been doing even canoing. I do hope today you feel back on top!

Thanks Greg & CL. Sorry you had a bummer day too Greg. I'm thinking my activity probably did take me over the edge. I am just so sick of having to worry about what I do and will I have to 'pay for it' later. I want to be normal, where I can do things and not have to think about hurting more in return. I know I will get there and just need to be patient with myself (patience is not easy for me at all). I did get a great nights sleep last night, took a couple of muscle relaxers and slept better than I have in a couple of weeks. Still hurting more than usual, but not as bad as yesterday, so it is getting better.

I know Kathy...you are so young it just doesn't seem fair. And venting is good. I know you're not going to stay in that place, but sometimes things just bubble up and our coping skills aren't as strong some days. Thank God for SPS. You were likely so used to being "extremely active," I am sure, before your auto accident, and today's pace for you isn't acceptable. I'm sorry for that. I do think you will get there. I really do. Patience isn't my strong suite either.

I fully understand the irony of a movie, cupcakes and shopping being a "bad day".

I could be sipping margaritas and surfing the beaches of Costa Rica with Jessica Alba and still feel bummed when I'm having those rougher days. When bad days hit I go visit a neighbor of mine in the evening who is housebound due to her own issues and help her around the house or make dinner. It always helps us both. You will feel improved as the day progresses.

Carson, such good advice about going to help someone in need when we are down. Or in Kathy's case, as she has two young children and may not be able to just take off down the street, a phone call to someone lonely is also priceless. Don't get me wrong about not exposing our children to self-less deeds.....we do lead by example, no doubt.

I empathize with how you feel . Spine rehab seems never ending & it's so frustrating . With my fusion op it took me 2 years to get back to normality & I kept improving 'till 2 1/2 years. I've also been told with my ADR op it takes 2 years for a FULL recovery. Keep fighting the fight & you'll get there - wish we could fast forward the time & jump into 2011 .

    Hope things gradually calm down.

Right?! We are probably the only people in the world who would like time to quicker and not slower! I decided to make myself get out and move around today. Went to Home Depot and bought a bunch of paint and stuff to make some repairs around the house. My fan/light in my breakfast room is not working, so I'm gonna re-wire it. Then going to do a bunch of touch up painting, more like repainting (the joy of children who don't know how to walk down the hall without rubbing their dirty little hands along it as they go!) I also need to resurface a wall where I changed out a fixture and it was larger than the new one, so had covered the spot. I'm not going to do it all in one day, but feel better already knowing I won't have to look at it anymore (goes back to that patience thing). My husband always jokes that I will ask him to hang something and 5 minutes later he will hear, bam, bam, bam and will ask, what are you doing? Me: hanging this, Him: I told you I would do it, Me: I know, I waited and you didn't, so I did!

Thanks for all the encouragement you guys, don't know what I would do without you. Gil- Hope you have a better day too, doesn't sound fun at all.
