    Default Having a weepy day.

Our middle daughter moved out into her first proper home today, she has been at home for 18 months since finishing university and we knew that she would be moving out sooner rather than later. She has got a new job in the city centre so has moved in to a flat there as it will be much easier than living elsewhere and her wages are now much better so can afford it.

I managed a brave face while I supervised everyone move her stuff and even kept it together when saying bye, (she is away next weekend so won't see her for a couple of weeks).

I just don't cope very well with stress or upset. I think chronic pain means you are much closer to the edge than normal.

Hope you feel better in the next few days. Focus on the positives in that she's not far away & you can easily pop round & see each other. It's good to hear she's doing well in the job market especially in the current climate.

I agree about the tipping you close to the edge - I seem to shed a tear at a lot of things at the mo but that's probably because my activity level is still poor.

Hope you feel a bit brighter tomorrow.

I can completely understand your emotions. Our oldest move out earlier this summer.I cried on and off for a month. It really hit me hard.Though I think you may be right that given our pain situation we may be more sensitive. I know I am I cry over commericials these days.Just know she's close by to visit and only a phone call away.I know it helped me alot to call I did alot and still do.Take care it will get easier.

I'm sorry that you are sad about her leaving, my mom cried forever when I left (I was the last to leave the nest). It sounds like she is still close by to see her or have lunch together. I'm sure with her first house and all that goes with it, she will be calling you plenty for advice and questions. I can't imagine what it must be like to have one leave home, as they have been part of your daily life forever. I already tell my girls that they can't move out until the finish college and are at least 30! LOL.... I'm sure you will also find good things about not having her in the house too (not that you won't miss her).
I'm a weepy mess 24/7, if I try to even talk about something sad, I'm bawling. I have also been pretty emotional and I think you are right that having the pain puts us on edge, though my current state is courtesy of pregnancy. I'm thinking about you and hope you feel better after a good cry (or twenty). They say sad tears actually release toxins from your body, so crying is good.

The funny thing most of my graduation gifts were some sort of luggage........

I do believe stress increases the perception of pain on several levels. Whether it's through muscle tension or if it's subconcious I can't say. When I experienced stress at work I noticed I felt more acutely symptomatic.

I hope all turns out well and she phones daily and comes home frequently to visit.

Trkdoc Funny you mention your graduations gift. Mine were as follow Suitcase, Webster's Dictionary and a Iron (clothes).Hmmmmmm I think my parents may have been ready for me to leave the Nest. But I have to say none of those items were extremely useful at the time.My parents and I at the time did not have a great relationship. It did come full circle later in life but not before missing my wedding and the Birth of the 1st grandchild.
So I guess what I'm saying is Ajj you have a good relationship with your daughter it will all workout .You are close she will need you for the rest of her life for endless questions the questions will be just different. If she gets a cold believe me she will be calling you" Mom can you bring me soup and cold medicene." It's all steeping stones in their life and yours. But you will be pleasantly surprised how alot doesn't change.Take care and know it's all part of the circle of life.

    Hi Alison,

I hope you are doing better today. It has got to be difficult to see your "baby" grow up and go. You can still stay in touch via Skype, iPhone, email, etc. Traveling back home for the holidays is something that I truly cherish and I am sure your daughter will enjoy doing too (if time permits).
