    Caitlin,

I am not so sure of the answers; only that you have to do the research to find what you need to do.
    We can only guide you.
Funny, I was feeling particularly blue when I clicked on new posts and saw your thread.
I read all the posts and then went downstairs to see what the family was up to.
They were still watching the movie, Forrest Gump.
Life is like a box of chocolates.
I felt better after watching that movie, a kleenex box of movie if you have ever watched it.

Susanna I completely agree with you this group is very special !! What makes it like no other , 1st there are so many of you all trying to help not just a handful 2nd There are so many Topics covered so that every type of Spine Patient can be involved and feel they have a place for them to find information and discuss it 3rd 100% True Caring !! As I said before I know now that I was lead to this group at a time in my life when I really needed it !! I'm very greatful.
Runagain It's funny you happen to mention Forrest Gump . It is one of my favorite movies and I have seen it at least 100 times but every time I come across it playing I watch it. Even if it happens to be just starting or half way thru I watch. It just so happened to be playing last night so you guessed I watched. I think I feel drawn to the movie because it symbolizes real life !! Life is not perfect it rolls on with up moments down moments. Life is truely like a box of chocolates you never know what you going to get !! I have to be willing to roll with it do the best I can do and everything else will fall into place.
Thanks again everyone you are all amazing people !! I wish nothing but the very best for each of you. We all may be different but we are all traveling down a similar road and it's nice to know we're not alone.

    Hi Caitlin,

I'm sorry that you are dealing with this. People that have never experienced true back pain have no idea how it affects every facet of one's life. My wife and have been through two spine surgeries together--we definitely hit the "in sickness" part of our vows from the get-go.

I won't lie--spine issues / chronic pain can make life difficult, especially on significant others. The key for us was to be honest and upfront about everything. Even though life can throw you curve balls and add stress on a relationship, remember the little things and make sure to take time to put the other person first.

Thanks Justin for the great advice. They are words of advice we should all try to work toward. As much as this whole thing is hard on us it's just as hard on our partners and children. I really try too on a daily basis remind myself that my Hubby is going thru a tough time as well. A "normal marriage" has it's ups and downs .Then you throw in a medical situation it can sure put a strain on it. My Golden Rules are Listen,be there, understand and know they are not perfect .I believe if you can do that it will all work out . Thanks again.

O--M--G (My daughter tells me it is okay to say this)

Caitlin, you were watching Forrest Gump too!!
I was upstairs for most of it, but nearly my entire family was watching it--even the little ones, but the littlest fell asleep before the end.
I was already crying before the movie and then started again. And him running across the states, what a hoot, and I ran a little before my current life and wow.
    Just a great movie.
And he is sitting there talking to that lady and she misses her bus as she is so entertained by his story.
Life is like a box of chocolates, never know what you are going to get.
    So true.
    Take care.

Runagain - too funny that both of us we're watching the same movie especially because it has such a great meaning that we all here can identify with. What ages are you children ? You have a house full just like me. If your house is like mine it's never a dull moment. But I wouldn't have it any other way it makes life interesting.
We are big enough family we can have our own band.haha Take care .
