Default RLS, PLMD and Lower Back Pain

I have had RLS and PLMD for the last twenty years. About 2 years ago I started taking Requip, which has drastically reduced the symptoms. Best thing since sliced bread in my book. Around three months ago I started to develop lower back pain which has been getting worse everyday.(The appt I had last week for my surgeon was postponed until next week.) 2 nights ago I ran out of the Requip and spent the worst night I can remember. Every 10-15 seconds, pain shot down from my lower back through my legs.

My question is does anyone else here have RLS or PLMD and have you experienced the same pain?

    Hey Dave,

I don't have firsthand experience with RLS and PLMD. However, I do know those that suffer from it. I'm sorry for what you are going through. Hang in there brotha'.

Hey Dave, I have had restless leg syndrome for many years. I take Mirapex for mine which is a huge help. However, lately I have noticed that I need to take it earlier and earlier before bedtime. The symptoms appear to be getting worse. And if I forget to pack it on a trip, like I did not too long ago up at the cabin, I was absolutely miserable. Could not sleep at all. My body felt on fire, jitsy, almost an out of body experience. I vowed I would never forget my rls medication again, ever! Are you wondering about a connection between back pain and restless leg?

After my Idet and this past surgery, I had lost so much stregnth, that it was like I had RLS. My therapist even asked if I had it, and I would have all the symptoms at night, not being able to get comfortable, etc. With therapy, it has resolved.

    CL,

I do not think there is a connection with back pain and RLS, it just feels like that is where the "firing" starts since my lower back has been hurting. It seems to enhance the "Frick" factor. I try to explain to people what it is like, but it's hard to do.

I agree with having to take medication sooner and sooner as time goes on. I now take .5 mg in the AM and 1.5 mg 2 hours before bed. I also keep a few on my nightstand for those excessively active nights.

My wife got my scrip filled Saturday, so I'm back to normal.

Justin and Kathy. Thanks for chiming in. You folks are great.
