    Safety when walking on ice

12.30.09. 4:00 AM. Taking the out for his morning , I slipped on the icy steps and landed square on my . Ouch !!

So, I figure that since it is winter, I have a bad back and I'm obviously a little clumsy, I needed to do something. We found a really cool product that you may or may not of heard of, YakTrax. They slip on over your shoes and give incredible traction on ice and snow. They are a MUST for anyone who walks on this frozen junk.

Just "Google" search (or what ever search engine you do use) on Yaktrax, and you will find a store near you that carries them or one you can order them from. They are awesome.

YakTrax are a must for us who have had spinal injuries. I swear by them and have been using them for years. They are not completely foolproof but they sure beat taking a risk to further exacerbate our spinal difficulties.

    Highly recommended in my book.

    Thanks for the advice!

I'm going to get something similar first thing tomorrow. I toppled over on a slippery spot on Christmas Day, and hurt more than my ego...

Thanks for the bump. I missed it the first time.
Low back pain became somewhat dehabilitating in 2005
Have had 11 steroid injections, IDET, Trial for nerve stimulator, PT, chiropractic trial, practically every med known to mankind. Discogram indicated three diseased levels with L5-S1 being the most likely pain generator. Post minimally invasive PLIF with internal fixation (titanium) on 12-28-09 of L5-S1. Doing better than expected. Last opioid 7/9/10.

Yes, thanks for the bump Justin. I don't know why I have not yet gone in search of these. On my to-do list today. I too took a nasty fall while up in Connecticut for the funeral. It was dark and I was on the driveway at my mother-in-law's, and I was walking around the front of another car and BOOM, I flew up in the air and landed flat on my back....the back of my head just missed the front bumper of the car, thankfully. Love the snow......hate the ice!!!

Now doing lumbar facet blocks for diagnostic purposes. Hoping insurance will then approve lumbar facet rhizotomy.
