I love doing the quilting. it's light and portable, probably the only thing I would say as a positive from having spine problems ..... oh and making some really good spiney friends who I wouldn't be without.

In the last few days my back muscles have taken a distinct turn for the worse but the knitting is helping by giving me some distraction from how bad my back feels. It's looking like the facet injections I had recently aren't going to give my back muscles much relief.

Alison - are your feet any more settled?

Oh, sorry to hear that. Wish we could be blessed with a half decent body. Hope tomorrow is a bit better day.

Have you thought about what you might do with your crochet squares. I might google some knitting forums to join - I've seen some that give ideas for knitting patterns & also crochet ideas.

everything works really well on mine apart from my back slowly knackering it up. never been in hospital (apart from having the kids) before all if this.

if you spot any inspiration for squares apart from a blanket let me know, it can involve sewing and other fabrics.

I've finished my first scarf . I'm really pleased with it.

(I wish I had a digital camera to show you a picture. I may get my mom to take me to town when it's my birthday in May to buy myself a new one).

It's a purple colour with a reversible pattern so it doesn't matter which way you wear it & I've done a fringe on each end. My mom (who is very particular) has even complimented me on it so that is praise indeed! It's double knitting, so a reasonable thickness, & cost me £9.50 to make (don't know what that is in US dollars) but it just shows you the profit they make in shops - it's outrageous really.

I tried sewing last summer when I needed to recline but I think (with the help of you tube) I'm better at knitting than sewing so will stick with that for the timebeing when I need to lie down & rest while I'm recovering.
