sounds like what Texans call "being down in my back" or "throwing my back out" My dad gets like this occassionally with his back and he won't be able to move for days, he will literally lay in bed for 2 or 3 days in pain and can not move.

something like that would happen to me when bone hit bone in my lumbar spine it seemed and the pain locked me up. Then I was down flat with severe pain for days or weeks. No more.

That used to happen to me before my lumbar pain became constant and very bad. It is a different pain than what I am experiencing now daily, much sharper.

It is like a pinched nerve in the sciatic area (lower back and it spreads down the outside of either leg sometimes)??

I could not stand up or get up off the floor, etc. when it hit, intense, hard and fast. The only thing that relieved it was a trip to the chiropractor or osteopath for me, and one or two treatments later, it was usually gone. You do have to find a good one, as they are few and far between, like everything else.

I'm not recommending that's what you need, just that it worked for me if it's the same thing.
Severe compression of spinal cord, flaval ligament, etc. at C4/5 & 5/6.
Herniation and compression, at L3/4 to L5/S1 plus spondylosis at the latter level. Severe allergy to most metals.
Three level surgery in Brazil with Dr. Luiz Pimenta on March 17/2010 using non-metal appliances. L5/S1-PEEK cage, ALIF; L4/5-PEEK cage, XLIF; C5/6-NuVasive NeoDisc. Three separate approaches, two minimally invasive. Currently minor residual back pain, from SI ligament and still overdoing things . Therapy and chiropractic treatments helping immensely. Gone from being almost bedridden to near normal activities including gardening. Life is gooooood!

This would periodically happen to me due to disc herniations (L4-S1). As from other posts, you'll notice that many things can cause this.

    1. Don't be alarmed! The more stress you induce upon yourself, the worse it can get.

    2. You are not alone. However, you might need help, especially with your little one.

    3. My doctor stated that it is safe to take 4x200 mg ibuprofen three times a day (or 3x200 four times a day). This can somewhat work as an anti-inflammatory until you can see your doctor.

    4. If you are having a herniated disc issue, there's a good book called "Treat Your Own Back," McKenzie on Amazon for $10. It gives good stretches.

    5. Make an appt. with your doctor on Monday.

Locking up might only last a day or two. Regardless of what caused the back to go wrong, something passed a particular threshold limit. It is best to get it treated earlier than later. Please make an appt. with your doctor first thing Monday morning.

Good luck. You have a lot going on in your life. However, you have a group of online friends ready to help.
