I totally know what you mean about having to get up for things during the night. I usually have to get up once or twice to use the bathroom and oftentimes to take more pain medication. It's very frustrating!

These drug allergies seem more common than I ever would have imagined. You have reactions to Fentanyl, etc as well? I well remember doing the 'funky chicken' after four hours on my first patch

I have been surprised when several doctors have tried to make me change off the morphine onto something else, especially when it is one of the few that actually helps keep the pain in check. I have almost always tried them to humour if nothing else, but they rarely work.

I hope you find something soon that will let you get some rest.
Severe compression of spinal cord, flaval ligament, etc. at C4/5 & 5/6.
Herniation and compression, at L3/4 to L5/S1 plus spondylosis at the latter level. Severe allergy to most metals.
Three level surgery in Brazil with Dr. Luiz Pimenta on March 17/2010 using non-metal appliances. L5/S1-PEEK cage, ALIF; L4/5-PEEK cage, XLIF; C5/6-NuVasive NeoDisc. Three separate approaches, two minimally invasive. Currently minor residual back pain, from SI ligament and still overdoing things . Therapy and chiropractic treatments helping immensely. Gone from being almost bedridden to near normal activities including gardening. Life is gooooood!

Danielle, Are you allergic to muscle relaxers? That has helped me more than anything else for sleep. Vicodin makes me really hyper and wide awake, so I can't take it for a few hours before bedtime. I take a muscle relaxer about 30 minutes to 1 hour before I want to go to sleep and it knocks me out. If the pain is real bad, I will take 2.
