I'm not exactly sure what is going on but for the last two to three months I seem to be getting weak/sick with temps of 102 to 104 for one three day stretch. Some days it is just an effort to get up to go to the bathroom. I thought it was recurrent sinus problems as I've had these in the past. I went to an ENT doc who found no problems at the time of my visit. He said the recurrent headaches fit the pattern of cluster headaches or migraines. Since he has them, he has become somewhat of an expert on these. I had a series of labs done including metabolic studies of liver, thyroid, pancreas, blood studies, B12 & folate. Results showed a few abnormalities, some of which could be the cause but nothing really jumped out as the exact cause. The CBC was normal but was drawn a week before the episode of increased temp. With a foreign body in my back, (titanium plates and screws) I can't help but be a little concerned about latent infection or allergic response though these are quite doubtful. I thought about some effect from withdrawal of meds since I've been pushing to get off them but the pattern doesn't really fit. I even tried going back up a little but it didn't help.
Anyway, thats the reason. I'll check in from time to time.
Low back pain became somewhat dehabilitating in 2005
Have had 11 steroid injections, IDET, Trial for nerve stimulator, PT, chiropractic trial, practically every med known to mankind. Discogram indicated three diseased levels with L5-S1 being the most likely pain generator. Post minimally invasive PLIF with internal fixation (titanium) on 12-28-09 of L5-S1. Doing better than expected. Last opioid 7/9/10. Five months pain free, then my neck turned against me. MRI on 12/1/10-- disease at C2 to C7. Only surgical alternative is to fuse entire C-spine. Diagnosed now with Aggressive Relapsing-Remitting Multiple Sclerosis with cord & brainstem active lesions

Hey Jack, I'll add my condolences on how sorry I am that you are going through this.
If you want to put your mind to rest about allergies to the artificial disc, you could send a blood sample off to Rush University. They literally saved me from disaster when they diagnosed my severe allergies to six common metals.
Have you had any dental work done lately? And if so, did you take any preventative antibiotics?. My dentist called the other day just before my appointment for a cleaning to give me a prescription. I had completely forgotten about needing it. (For others who are not familiar with this, it prevents the bacteria that are released into the bloodstream from congregating at the site of the discs or even hip replacements, etc.)
I hope you find the cause of this quickly. I was so sick (but without the fever) for weeks after I got home from surgery, then found out I was intolerant to dairy all of a sudden. I hope it is something as simple as that for you, and is over with soon.
Please keep us posted.
Severe compression of spinal cord, flaval ligament, etc. at C4/5 & 5/6.
